A lot of times, but mostly for movies that I might see in theaters. For games I'm typically a lot more strict, but do have a few that I'd buy even if it got moderate reviews.

Kill Me Baby
This show managed to have like the worst OP, yet best ED of the season. I suppose I could call this one a disappointment. I really was hoping this would be hilarious, but it was just kind of funny. The skits were kinda funny when I watched them, but none of them were very memorable. Agiri trolling them was great though. So was unused character. They do heavily overuse their running gags though, sometimes like 100 times (exaggeration) an episode.

Last Exile: Ginyoku no Fam
In general I've seen two major complaints about this season of last exile. First, the main characters are moe girls and are terrible. And second that the story sounds like it's written by a two year old. I don't really understand the fist one, the only good characters in S1 were Dio and Alex. Everyone else was just kinda there. The story in S2 is kinda...shaky. They do a really good job showing you the scope of what's going on, but the main bad guys end game seems far fetched and the way some alliances are constantly changed all over the place made it a mess. They could have done a lot more with this series. The first last exile was a show that was really good at first, but it eventually became too drawn out. This season could have used a few more episodes to flesh out some nagging points.

Persona 4 The Animation
I guess I'd call this a benchmark for a "good" show. IMO P4 didn't do anything really extraordinary, but didn't do anything terrible either. Some parts were pretty funny (like that explosive fishing part) but other times things just seemed to fall flat. The ending was really rushed, in fact, a lot of the series seemed a little off in terms of pacing. Maybe the special true end episode coming out later will fill some of the holes for the finale.

A lot of FFXI's problem was Square's inability to control their community and make reasonable game decisions. But even before that a lot of things were wrong about ffxi.

1. NA/JPN rift.
Japan got the game over a year before America did. The game had already gained a reputation for being elitist, naturally a lot of the JPN players didn't want to play with the NA ones. Some of them do this for the language barrier, but it was pretty obvious when the gap was just about closed that a lot of elitism and stuff was going on.

2. Notorious Monsters and Rare Drops
This is another lame thing. Having to farm like normal monster for extremely rare drops (RO), or having rare monsters dropping moderately better stuff (Rift) are great, but when a noob zone NM drops an item that you'll use until level 72 there's a problem. This is from someone who made most of his pre-goldcrafting gil camping.

3. Terrible class balance
FFXI might have one of the worst class balance systems I've seen. Like I can't recall a game that had a class like Dragoon. They were so underpowered. Basically they did less damage then a warrior, could not tank, their wyrvn always died to aoe, had less utility then a dark, etc. Thieves got a short end too (I was a thief I know). Basically for end game stuff I got swapped in for 2 things SA/TA and TH3. Later on you got cool things like added effect daggers and stuff, but those came much too late. Also Ninja tanking almost made Paladin's obsolete.

4. Lack of user mods
Square had a policy that disallowed any custom addons. Including a thing like a windower (which everyone used anyways), this meant if you accidently hit alt-tab instead of alt-1 for a macro you just exited your game.

5. Worlds slowest fights/leveling/artificial difficulty
FFXI moves slow. It can take you an hour of fighting +2 for LFG to get like 4K xp, and then you lose like half of it after one death. This is something that should not happen in any game. Especially since a lot of deaths are simply unavoidable the way the game is set up.

6. POL
The POL interface sucks ass. I don't know why I have to load up this program to play FFXI. Other games just have a simple launcher where you log in that's it.

7. Gilfarmers
On my server (bismarck) gilfarmers drove the price up on items around 20x what they were before. Square took ages to do anything about this.

8. Square's inability to do anything useful.
True story. I was in the tunnel farming the morrion worm. There was another person there. After a while I noticed that they would stay at the same spawn spot (might change after each pop) and just sit there, and would always be at the right spot (1 in 6 chance). So I flagged a GM and told them I suspect the character is running a script or something. Well, turns out I was right and the character vanished from the zone. About 2 hours later I'm mining in moblin city, and i see the same character. And I flag a GM again and this is what I get

"We only banned them from that one zone"

Never did goldsmithing. My Linkshell had a 103 Goldsmither and he was the richest person I ever saw in game.

I stuck to fishing and cooking because Sushi became OP and I could turn a stupid profit off of very little upfront cost.

Did you spend the millions and power level your Goldsmithing or did you mine and take it slow?

For the first like 60 or so you can do it without mining except for the gold near the end. After that though you really need to farm or just buy items. From 60 to 80ish is when it's really expensive. Before this you can't really make gil with the craft. So that section too a long time. But you can synth and sell slowly after that depending on what the market was.

Finished a few more things

Chihayafuru
This was the clear favorite for anime of the season. Great cast, tons of emotions. This is one of those shows that really has you rooting for the characters. The ending kind of annoys me because I know it's unlikely this will get a second season, but I don't really know what else they could have done. When giving out 10s I try to find ways where I could lower the score to a 9 without sounding like a complete ass. While it has some faults, few series take such a concept like Karuta and make something really entertaining out of it.

Best Character: Chihaya
Worst Character: No one really, I suppose that old lady person who played Chihaya was kind of annoying.

Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou
I'm probably in the minority when I say I didn't really enjoy this series as much as I would have hoped based on the first episode. Some parts were absolutely hilarious (like the hot dog part, or every part with literary girl, or where are my glasses) but I really didn't get a lot of the jokes, and unlike Nichijou, they were not executed in a way where it was funny anyways. The show could have used a few more running gags too.

Best Character: Literary Girl
Worst Character: No one really, not because all of them are good, but because I have a hard time giving them + or -s based on what I know of them.

Papa no Iukoto wo Kikinasai!
So, this starts out as a nice little show about like cute girls I guess and their uncle, but it turns into a show about the struggles of a college student raising 3 cute girls. I guess you could call this half usagi drop, half moe genre thing whatever. Honestly, I went into this thinking it would be an easy drop, but I ended up liking the show a lot. The cast is overall likeable, they might not be the most amazing as far as development goes, but they are not bad. The pacing was kind of slow, but I feel like speeding things up here would downplay the struggles even more.

Nisemonogatari
The main downside of this season is the overwhelming lack of Senjougahara. I get she's not the main character this time around, but more of her would have been nice. I liked this show, but I do feel like they spent too long on the first arc. There were some episodes just kinda there like the toothbrush one or the naked loli one, which arguably could have been taken out without anything happening (but they were actually probably two of the best episodes). All the characters are likable, at least the good guys. It just seemed a little off from s1 when Araragi basically had a sort of mission in those, and here it just seemed like he was helping out.

Best Character: Karen
Worst Character: Kaiki (just a kinda boring villain overall)

Rinne no Lagrange
I really dont know how seriously I'm supposed to take this show. I mean, the fate of the world is at stake and in the first few eps it's defended in such a nonchalant way. When there is like action and you see Madoka fighting and being cool it's great, some of the drama parts were a little weak, especially with muginami. The 3 dudes who were the enemies at first became allies out of nowhere. I don't know, a lot of things just seemed to happen.

Shakugan No Shana III
The season had an incredibly slow start due to recaps and a lot of story set up for the rest of the season. That being said, once it got going it went along pretty well. The large scale fights are really great, but I'll say one of the things it kinda lacked were Shana versus random powerful monster fights. She just seemed to fight Yuuji all the time, I get she's like one of the most powerful flame hazes, but I still want her to be able to show off a little more than she did. The supporting schoolfriend cast has always been lame, and they continue to be lame. There are just so many characters and like I'm unsure of their backstories or anything.

Tantei Opera Milky Holmes Dai 2 Maku
I normally don't pickup sequels to shows that scored lower than a 5 (I gave season 1 a 4), but I made an exception for this, and am I glad I did. This season is just so completely random and over the top. It was great. The characters have great gimmicks, especially Hercules being a closest pervert. Even twenty was a little more bareable this time around. Stone RIver is amazing. The prison guard was good too, I think he was riding a giant octopus. Probably the surprise show of the season as far as expected quality versus actual quality.

Okay this show is like a lot of crap between 2 really fancy pieces of bread. The first and last episodes were pretty good, but the rest of it just leaves a bad taste in your mouth. One of the main issues is that there is just about no character development throughout the entire show, and when the nobodies die I just burst out laughing (especially during the last ones when there was like mass death... the first scene in the last episode was amazing). They take too long to really reveal important information, I mean they hovered on the same thing for like 5 episodes. This is not to say some parts were not entertaining, just the pure ridiculousness of it was great. It just makes me want to well... kill something when like all the confusion at the end could have been avoided if Mei just didn't keep a secret. God damn it. What an idiot.

Best Character: Mei
Worst character: Basically everyone else.

Black Rock Shooter
I'll start off by saying this is one of the most overdramatic things I've seen in recent memory. All of the characters, besides Mato, are incredibly unlikable. Mato herself is just boring, she's a nice girl, but that's really it. Every character seems incredibly selfish. I still don't know how the adviser lady knows about any of this stuff or why she was trying to save the girls from BRS world. Things just seem to come out of nowhere. Like, the story boils down to the girls didn't want to face the real world, but the girls also made some pretty big leaps of logic when figuring out what they wanted to cut out from their lives.

Best Character: Mato
Worst Character: Yomi

High School DXD
As the seasons boobanime there were not a lot of expectations for this. Normally these suck. But this one was great. Incredibly likable characters, while only Rias and Issei really get development the supporting cast is great. The fights are great, the humor is great. The best part was Asia trying to read the Bible and then Issei commenting on how he wasn't sure if she was being serious or being funny. The fact that Issei turned his pervertedness into a weapon was pretty great too.

Best Character: Issei (specially mention to that crazy demon hating priest... he was great)
Worst Character: No one really. The phoenix dude was a moron, but still.

Natsume Yuujinchou 4
This is the 4th season of Natsume, so needless to say I'm getting a little tired of it. If you've seen the rest of the show it's still pretty much the same. There were some episodes that were a little darker this time around, and there was less focus on natsume's school friends as season 3. One of the problems is that a lot of the growth Natsume had to go through over the first couple of seasons is done, so now it just kinda feels like he's doing what he normally does and that's it. Nyanko sensei is still great.

Ahh I didn't see the "minimize" part. Which is to say they do expect some minor advantages to be there. I'm not an expert either, but I know enough where certain things like skeletal structure etc can play roles with this.
