With a fairy godmother . There's a bit of self awareness and campiness that has now saturated the show's canvas and starts to drip down.

It's 16 bit Kabuki theater. You're supposed to "get" the character within 5 minutes to meeting them and then focus on the action and drama of it all. There's not that much space for character growth or depth of personality when it's an ensemble party, and "do nothing but have a dinner conservation and do a side quest to establish rapport with the King" is very boring gameplay wise, as an alternative to going "trust sand castle king, and we're back in the action! dive dive dive!"

What you're probably missing from FF6 is going to be the World of Ruin. Each character gets their own little vingette, it's lovingly nonlinear (which, at the time, was huuuuge), and the final dungeon is amazing because it actually uses your entire* squad.

About 3 years. We didn't have enough quality time together, in retrospect. And we both sucked at communication.

For me -- yeah. I dated someone 9 years younger than me (I was 36, they were 27) and that was challenging at times in terms of pop culture references or general life progression (professional progress, kids or lack thereof, etc).

I don't think it'd even be in the top 3 for popularity.

My prediction for top 3:

1) Let it Go by a mile
2) Part of Your World
3) We Don't Talk About Bruno

Edit Going off "plays on spotify" (which tilts more towards modern era) --

1) 914 million plays
2) 314 million plays
3) 578 million plays

Part of Your World clocks in at 340 million. Guess it's more popular than little mermaid

Seasons.

You draft your hand of fantasy relics and minions at the start of the game alongside the other players, and then set yourself to gain them at the start of the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year of the game. Then you roll some elemental-theme diced as you progress through spring-summer-fall-winter to gain resources/points and bring out the cards in your hand, and then at the end of year 3, count up who has the point victory points. Healthy mix of strategy, luck, and player interaction :D

I think they're fixing this in the remaster coming out in late September. They're adding in more ingame dialogue (and voice acting~). AFAIK Agrias and Meliadoul as a baseline get in some talk if they're present in a battle or two. But, yes, Mustadio is still around for sidequest unlocked.

Since this game has permadeath and/or the ability to just boot a character from your roster, it would be very weird to expel Rafa/Malak (e.g.) but then have them pop up in a cutscene.

When it first came out I wasn't a fan of Deep Space Nine. It was, conceptually, too passive with a lot of the antics being thrust upon the station rather than the Enterprise going to a new alien planet.

But I gave it another go a few years back and now I like it even more than TNG. It's got great characters and interplay and Sisqo is a badass captain.

Google circa 2005 used to have the same functionality and would extract like 2 or 3 lines of text from the webpage. Often this would also answer my query and prevent me from actually visiting the site.

Then the webpages got smarter and starting obscuring their own content to drive visits (and thus ad revenue) while also having bloated content in the name of SEO (and yet more ad space).

I'll take Google AI summary over needing to visit a fandom wikipage 7 days a week.

Tons. there's a lot wrong with it like the atrocious random battle rate, how it's the worst iteration of "transform into Dragon" in the franchise, or how awesome the shamans are only to have half of them unavailable for 90% of the game.

Getting your own village with different aesthetics/perks and your villagers are cool. The cast is pretty cool. The story arcs are fun. Solid game but I haven't touched in a decade and its oozing with nostalgia factor.

Yup :D

The actual ending is Persephone comes back to Hades with you and Zag, Cerb, Hades, and Persephone get a badass family portrait. It's a lovely drift down the river Styx. Just clear it a few times and it should happen.

There's also some post game activity where you have a Olympic Family Reunion and Zeus and the fam all have a party and Demeter and Hades make a rough peace.

After that it's just slowly making the game harder on yourself via hell pacts (also unlocking way more Titan's Blood and Diamonds) as you max out your weapons and then do your best. I think there's an achievement for beating a run on Heat 32.

Early on, I liked the laws and judges! It meant I had to tweak my team and couldn't just shove everything through the metaphorical square hole.

but in the last 20% of the game, some of those laws were just absurd. Screw you "don't deal damage to monsters" and your ilk.

My point is that uniques replace the shitty squire job with a useful job so generics are just inferior in every way & there's no reason to use them at all except for edge case zodiac compatibility in challenge runs.

A general desire for a lack of grinding. My generics are already 90% of the way to Ninja/Samurai and/or they're rocking Teleport and Holy by the time I get Agrias and Mustadio. By the time I've got Cid they're badasses with most of their skillsets fleshed out and good R/S/M.

To roll over into specials means unlocking most of the generic jobs on my specials, going into a random battle, killing my own people and hoping it's a crystal, and then hoping said crystal has a large chunk of those learned skills to the special to inherit.

Ooooor. I can just have Meliadoul, Malak, etc all ride pine and stick to my crew.

This edition will have a superior UI, the ability to take back your movement(!), voice acting, and a yet-to-be detailed Hard Mode which I can only hope has enemies with significantly harder loadouts like more skills known and RSM worth a damn (Monks with Weapon Guard (Parry) is hilariously sad, but enemies with access to Holy and significantly more Ninjas would be a good thing).

Much like Tactics Ogre, it'll go on sale to $30 in less than a year after release, if you're a gil miser.

Yes, the Leading Man is absolutely superior to Cloud -- but I roll with a generic only squad, and have for the last decade+. Special characters don't mean shit. I hire some badass people that are compatible to my Ramza, and we roll through the game together.

All of the pixel remasters didn't include the additional content from their GBA-era rereleases. This is consistent.

Dark Knights are a bitch to unlock, and Balthier added nothing to the game. I ain't mad.

Can someone tell me why this is bad? Ive never played Tactics. Would it be like playing Diablo II without Lord of Destruction?

It's really not bad. WotL content is about 3 additional combats, 2 generic classes (which are lategame only), and 2 special characters as nods to the franchise. The rest of the game is still like 60+ combats, 20 generic classes, and like 15 other special characters (including Cloud Strife, yet another nod to the franchise). It's an amazing game and if you've never played it I highly highly recommend it. Probably my favorite of all time. ALL TIME.
