Hiring criminals makes the workplace unsafe. Should be an easy win for Sheetz. Lots of major employers dont hire people with felony convictions.

what do you base this on? For Sheetz to be allowed to do this, they'd have to prove that "criminals" wouldn't be able to do the job effectively and safely.

I don't understand how they ever plan to try and select unbiased jurors

like surely at this point everyone in the country is extremely biased one way or another on trump

they don't. both sides plan on getting a jury that they think will help them win

Does that have much impact on self-defense? If a guy says "I really want to kill robbers" and then goes out to shady areas to wait to get mugged, would that change anything? I think it was fairly obvious he was always a narcissistic, deluded piece of shit, but do disgusting thoughts change a legit self-defense scenario?

it affects the "reasonable doubt" aspect of voting guilty/not guilty. Someone indicating that they want something to happen would likely be perceived to be less likely to have been forced into the situation "requiring" them to do that exact thing

Just going to highlight two quotes from that article:

they supported the death penalty for women who seek abortions or use IVF, including pregnant minors.

Brown went on to say that they will never be okay with abortions in the instance of incest or rape

So, let's get it straight: they want to execute minors who abort a pregnancy that results from incestuous rape. Because they believe in the sanctity of life, they want to kill children who are victims of the most serious and heartbreaking violation.

And people vote for scum like that because 'the border', or 'Biden's gas prices' or whatever.

Fucking hell.

gee why would the party supporting child marriages feel this way?

This can be all 'haha point and laugh at dumb fuck' until someone takes it seriously and lights one of these buses up.

sadly, the GOP doesn't have a good track record for how they treat buses filled with black people

as if the GOP needs more inspiration for limiting women's rights. I guess they need to think of something for federal abortion bans when they gain control of all three branches of government the next time

It's almost like it's creepy for someone knee deep in his career to be dating a high schooler. And there's a glaring power dynamic

I think the real question is why are sports such a priority for society to the point "stars" get paid dozens or hundreds of times more than specialists who actually matter like doctors.

because people pay a lot of money to watch (and gamble a lot of money on) sports. It's a function of the revenue you bring in, same as any other business

OR you educate the people so gerrymandering doesn't work. In other places it's getting harder and harder for Republicans to gerrymander districts because people with more schooling move into poorer areas. It's why the new scheme is to cut funding to education and put far-right Republicans in charge of school boards.

see this is the typical problem: the solution is...(whatever the republicans are doing their very to prevent).

Name pretty much any issue we are trying to deal with, and whatever the sensical solution is (and I'm not suggesting that the mainstream democratic solution is always the most sensical either, necessarily), the republicans are trying to prevent from happening.

healthcare, voting right, gun control, gerrymandering, education, etc. - the republicans WANT things to not work. then they blame the democrats. It's basically their entire strategy for staying in/holding on to power. And it works very effectively, sadly

How much would universal healthcare cost per person per month? Like how much do the countries with it spend? Just curious I think UBI would be around 4.1 trillion a year at just $1,000 a month.

and that money would be spent, generating taxes. Then the people who they gave the money to will spend the money, generating more taxes, etc. It eventually all is given back to the government, which then reinvests the money in the people. it's basically just circulating the supply of money around and making sure everyone get a piece (which would be a slice designed so poor people who don't/can't find other options other than full-time+ employment can survive, rather than be unhoused, die, or resort to crime to surive), as opposed to lowering taxes for the rich so they can keep and hold their piece of the pie while the rest starve or fight for scraps.

Um, no. Traditionally, they've existed in the same universe for decades.

they are literally going to be coming in from a different universe (this/next) year? Perhaps I am wrong, but have they crossed over at all in any of the other MCU movies/shows (except like in the latest Dr. Strange when they literally came from another universe). The MCU as we've seen it in every other movie (in this era) has had no allusions to mutants or any of that politics at all. Which is why it would be kind of weird (unless they are going to wave it off as they are coming in from a different universe)
bfslick50 posted...
The X-men are depicted as marginalized, but it's weird that they're depicted that way. People with those powers would probably more likely get an MCU experience: a lot would be celebrities, or tech giant CEOs, many could make bank with their powers in a capitalist society, most dictators would be extremely powerful mutants, there'd be a shit ton of mutants within the wealthiest 1%.

Captain America, Spiderman, and Batman have all had recent movie plotlines of being a wanted criminal because they're vigilantes operating outside the justice system. But when that same plotline happens to the X-men, it's supposed to mean a different thing, and the analogy they're trying to make doesn't really hold.

they have traditionally been different universes. There is a bit of oddness that comes from the MCU trying to merge the two. It actually doesn't align well
this is what two-party compromise looks like
