There is no point to Trump. He is simply proof of the buildup of hundreds of years of political detritus. All the bullshit that weve just ignored and allowed to be completely coopted by special interests, the media.

He wouldnt make it through the primaries in a world that existed twenty years ago.

Weve always been running out of road as a country but this fucking guy has literal family members running the party that controls the entire government while blatantly ignoring the law.

lolno and frankly to be blunt anybody that believes he is is huffing some major US exceptionalism.

Simply by virtue of the restrictions on the POTUS Xi Xingping of China is far more powerful. Trump can't even declare martial law uniliaterally after trampling all over the constitution. He's got a lot of power but it's nothing compared to the sort of unilateral power of heads of state like Xi wield both internally and externally.

Frankly I'd put even Putin higher than Trump. Russia's military is substantially weaker than the US's but Putin can actually use it however he damn well pleases, Trump? Not even close outside of kicking around dirt poor nations (which is pretty much situation normal and nothing new for the US.)

Then there's various oligarchs who wield softpower. Theil's already been mentioned (and is the real power in the White House right now rather than Trump), but I'd also throw in the likes of Murdoch and Zuckerberg as more powerful than Trump as well simply due to how much of the world they can control through psychological manipulation.

I've truly never understood the logic of suggesting POTUS is the most powerful person in the world. You hear it in media, and while I can't offer a better person who *is*, I have a hard time believing that ANY president would be.

it's a bit tricky of a question since as some people mention there are various checks and whatnot in place to somewhat limit what he can do. yet at the same time the USA is just such a large/significant/powerful country in general that in terms of worldwide influence trump with restrictions probably still has more power than many country leaders would have without restrictions
