I've a couple people say it's more comfortable. I did it once just to move my car in the driveway, and it was pretty uncomfortable, imo.

A few times when I was younger. Like at the river/sandbar instead of sandals. Wasnt a big fan of it.

When I'm wearing sandals, yeah.

Getting a pedal stuck between my foot and my sandal is wildly unsafe. Better to be barefoot.

I have once or twice if it's something simple like moving one car out of the garage to put the other in or etc.

It's certainly not my preference.

If you have footwear that can slide off probably not a bad idea

This. I did a lot of dumb stuff when I was younger and driving barefoot definitely happened in the summer. For the last ten years Ive been a very paranoid and safe driver

I've only ever done it for safety reasons, when the alternative was flip-flops. I did not enjoy it.

This. If I'm just going up the road for a few minutes to get gas or swing through the drive thru, I'll wear flip flops and drive bare foot. I grew up driving barefoot a lot in the country as well.

Only whenever I just want to switch parking spots or something and am too lazy to put shoes on.

It's the weirdest shit. Would not recommend.

I've tried slipping off flip flops to drive once or twice, but it felt weird. Theoretically it should give you better control, but it feels worse.

And I drive in flip flops all the time and they never slip off unintentionally. Y'all gotta work on your sandal game. Or get some that fit better.

I thought about driving with just slippers one time, as I only needed to move my car a very short distance. Just the feel of it and having no grip made me quickly change my mind and put on shoes instead.

Yep. Though I definitely drive with some kind of footwear on more often than barefoot. Both are fine; no preference for me and I dont have any issues with barefoot.

I do remember a friend way back in HS adamantly telling me it was illegal to drive without shoes on. My response was how TF are the cops going to see my feet when Im driving?

I've only done it a handful of times and to go very short distances to and from the beach, since I don't like driving with flip flops.

Yeah, I drove with my house shoes (moccasin style) exactly once and never again because it just didn't feel safe. I don't decry people for doing what works best for them, but it's not for me, like at all.

Also one time I was driving with flip flops and had to do some light but rapid on and off braking, my flip flop came off and stuck itself under my break peddle. And since it was bent went my foot slid out it tried to straighten out and wedge my brake up.

I finally got it out while still driving but it scared the shit out of me.

Is this a thing? Sounds dirty. Although it's easier for me to drive manual with shoes that are less thick. So now I'm curious how that would be barefoot

I guess Im the odd one out. If Im wearing shoes Ill take off my right shoe (but not the sock). To me it feels safer being able to feel the pedal more without a shoe on.
