Thing is, if people don't spend money they don't have the American economy collapses. It's based on endless growth and unlimited consumption.

But an individual can do that without going into crippling (or really any) debt.

Other than my mortgage, I carry no debt from month to month.
You gotta laugh. That is the one thing at the end of your life you will not wish you did less of.

My only concern would be that if I'm ordering something online for pick up, I know if I was working at that grocery store, I'd definitely find the version of that item that I want out of my store first.

Someone wants to order some apples? Better believe I'm not giving them the best damn apples in the store. I'm finding whatever is passable and that's what they get. They order milk? I'm finding the carton with the closest best before date and they're getting that.

You want someone else to grab all that for ya? Cool, I'll do it. Get that shit out of my store. XD

At the store I work at, the employees putting together the online orders have rules they have to follow. Like if it's close enough to the best before date that we'd put a 30% off sticker on it, then it's not acceptable for online orders.
I'm able bodied, but I don't have a car.

The user in question literally admitted, multiple times, that he makes the topics that way to troll people.

Hence why he, y'know, got suspended.

But don't let facts stand in the way of a good judging.

I've done it during covid just to try it out. Too much uncertainty if there isn't a thing you want and the person has to make a decision.

I've also used it when I'm halfway through a recipe and realized I'm missing something.

My time is more valuable than a delivery fee

also its probably better for the environment having a dedicated person deliver groceries rather than have everyone individually drive in

its got nothing to do with shopping carts. Youre being weird TC

Preferences. I prefer 50 posts per page so that I'm not constantly having to click "next" while reading through a long topic.

If a topic is 160 posts long, that's 4 clicks vs 16 clicks

I don't drive (by choice) I'm far too anxious and paranoid.

The grocery store is far enough away that walking isn't always reasonable, and fast food is more expensive than grocery delivery.

If living in a 15 minute city was an option, I would do that instead.

My hometown in Michigan doesn't even really have sidewalks.

GameFAQs also has a tendency to load slow. It's clearly a server problem it has been like this ever since the early 10's. The number of posts doesn't affect it, so 50 posts makes sense if I'm waiting a minute for a page to load.

As someone who works at a grocery store, I would much prefer more people switched to ordering groceries. It's much easier to do my job when the people going around gathering groceries are my coworkers, as they tend to be more aware of where things are, as well as what is going on around them.
I dont really buy groceries but it makes a lot of sense to order the few things I do get. Saves me time, which is much more valuable to me than the 50 cents or whatever it is for me to get somebody to deliver it.

Might as well just say you surrender, since you lost the entire debate by busting the "my opinion" card out. Not that it matters since people already saw this for the troll topic that it is anyways.

See, everyone in this topic is well aware that you have your opinions, however shitty they may be, so there is no reason to bust out the "my opinion" card. But yet, you feel like you need to do that. And the only reason why someone would do that is because their shitty opinions has backed them so deep into the corner, that they have no way to escape it. So they bust out the "my opinion" card as a scapegoat, as a means to justify their shitty takes, which is what you're doing. So if you want to be taken seriously, which why would anyone do that, then maybe not play that card. It won't do you any favors in the long run.

I'll never understand able bodied people ordering groceries

It does seem silly to me, but at the same time, people get busy. Not everyone knows how to shop quickly (now thats something I dont understand lol Im usual in and out in like 20 minutes). It can definitely be convenient to just go pick up your groceries.

I never do it, because I typically just dont like making others do something that I can do myself. But its nice that its an option.

You don't need a license to drive a sandwich
I've ordered groceries twice exactly, the nearest grocery store to me is about 10 miles away in one direction. My car needed repair both times.

I order mine for pick up while at work. Rather not stress things after the day.

mother times I just walk in and try to figure out what sounds good to the wife (this normally takes 2-3 aisles).

you're trying to use logic to communicate with someone who is being intentionally illogical in an effort to irritate you. it doesn't matter how well you form your argument, or how solid your logic is, OP will not reply using logic. being intentionally obtuse is one of the classic ways to troll.

normal person: 1 + 1 = 2
troll: why are you calling me names?
normal person: what? i never called you a name. why are you making things up?
troll: you're probably the type of person who never returns the shopping cart.

I hope something good happens to you today

I have no control over what you do, and nor do I think you care enough about what I think that I'm going to change how you live your life. You can disagree all you like, but if you find it that upsetting or offensive because of my opinions on a grocery delivery service then you're taking this to a level that's way beyond where I'm at, and there's nothing I'm going to do about that either.

Exactly it.

Also how do these groceries get delivered? Part of why I really like going shopping is I have a couple collapsable baskets I got from Costco which are so much better than any bag, reusable or not. I can pack up all my groceries so efficiently and reuse them infinitely. Then I don't have a thousand reusable bags cluttering up my house and car (which never make it back to the car). I just have two baskets that are easy to remember to put back in my car because I leave them by the front door when they're brought in.

If the groceries are showing up in more bags (even if they are reusable) I think that's extra ridiculous and contributing to a growing problem now where we ditched plastic bags but now everyone has a million reusable ones.

HEB or Whole Foods always get me nice things in general. I don't go to shit stores like Walmart or Target, can't expect anything good from those places. I consider grocery shopping a chore I rather spend my time on a hobby instead. Commute plus shopping will take about an hour. It's not expensive to have it delivered sometimes I forget an item and just make a new order right after. The other day I wanted some watermelon and paid like $30 to have it delivered in 15mins.

At the store I work at, online orders are primarily put in cardboard boxes, which is a reuse of the boxes that produce arrives at the store in.
