I watched it last night and was laughing out loud at how ridiculous the brawl was.

Right? It's so cool and ludicrous at the same time.

Did they bring Miyagi back as a zombie yet?

Ep. 10 has Daniel-San having a nightmare of fighting against a young Miyagi (played by a different actor, obviously). Miyagi wins and is about to give a final blow, but briefly turns into a creepypasta Uncanny Valley cgi version of old Miyagi, with a soundalike voice. Then Daniel wakes up in a huff.

I still love this show but man it seems like they just keep redoing the same stuff over and over. And man that fight was so random and out of nowhere.
it almost felt like they didnt know what to do and were like just have literally everyone fight at once
it was weird the announcer never cut the camera that whole time till after it stopped

Clearly the brawl was the goal the whole time. The drama was all set up to it. I can't see how anyone could think they didn't know what they were doing. It was very clearly all setting up a big climax.

It was a well executed plan, since most people weren't going to see it coming.

Remember, Daniel-San made a very specific point to bring up that Cobra Kai was only one dojo here, of how many. Clearly they were setting up that the stakes were much bigger and they are opening the doors for more rivalries. So when everyone wanted a piece of everyone it was a perfect climax. We have only seen things from the perspectives of 3 dojos, when clearly there is more going on than their intertwined drama.
If you want something done right, do it yourself.
So note to self: Do more myself.
Except it wasn't a climax, since there's 5 more episodes coming.

I kept thinking the guy overseeing the tournament was from an action or martial arts movie I realized I recognized him as the Iceland coach from Mighty Ducks

Shit! I knew that guy looked familiar.
Are we all in agreement that this is arguably the greatest example of "So bad it's good" television?

Maybe I'm just a little too old to care about the "teenage drama" aspect of the show and wanted it to be more about Daniel and Johnny mending their issues, but it's really devolved into the stereotypical "the show is a success, and we just got a ton of money, so we have to go WAY over the top with everything" pitfall that every show that lasts 2-3 too many seasons does. It went from charming to corny VERY quickly.

You gotta laugh. That is the one thing at the end of your life you will not wish you did less of.

It was corny from the very first episode, which, if I remember correctly, starts with Johnny, a middle aged man, using karate to beat up a bunch of school kids power rangers style and facing absolutely no repercussions for it.

Dont get me wrong, I love the show, but its embraced the so bad its good thing from the beginning, but has some moments with some heart in them too.
The problem is that when the show started it was loosely based on that meme theory that Daneil was the actual bad guy in the first Karate Kid movie. That's why Johhny was the sympathetic loser and Daniel was the arrogant asshole in the first season. There was a tongue-in-cheek sense of fun about it.

But yeah that concept didn't last too long and now here we are. All out brawl at a televised international karate tournament that ends with a kid dead. It's all just super serious deadly melodrama now.

A good thing it's finally ending after a few more eps., because I mean c'mon.

I always thought the theory that Daniel is the bad guy in the original film misses the point. Theyre both dicks. Just like everybody else is growing up. I think the show actually handles that aspect fairly well.

Did they make the bad guys good and the good guys bad again ?

Silver hamming it up like a Bond villain will never not be tongue-in-cheek lol. Even bought some thug to kidnap Daniel, that's blatantly Bond villain shit. Kreese actually willing to commit cold-blooded murder over teenage karate is also absolutely ridiculous.

Silver showing up out of thin air with the Writers casually explaining away his criminal case was a highlight for me, if I have to be honest. The show is better with him in it. And then he threw Daniel a bone about Mr. Miyagi after having him kidnapped. The cat and mouse game with him is just hilarious.

The fact that everything leads back to childrens point karate is easily my favorite thing lol

The Korean team apparently lives in the woods doing karate their entire existence for point fighting in a bizarrely poorly run world tournament lmao
