The decision is written in such a way as to try and make it impossible for any suits to stop it to even be brought before a court going forward.

This is why I say the Democrats need to be aggressive in their gerrymandering to counterbalance. Ideally there would be no gerrymandering at all, but in a system where the Republicans are hiring consultants to systematically gerrymander as many safe seats as possible, it's idiotic for the Dems to not do the same.

I agree. The problem is that the dems are spineless and always have been. They've always tried to play the game of taking the moral high ground as if that does anything other than give you a great view of everything as it fucking burns.
Furthermore, The GOP is a Fascist Organization and must be destroyed
I agree that the time to play nice is long past, but you can't forget that "The Dems" tried it in Maryland and were immediately striken down because it's bad when Democrats do it. And that point of existing gerrymandering is already to eliminate the possibility of Democratic majorities, so Democrats don't often have the chance to be the gerrymandering party.

And the Republicans are about due to start their decadal 'Census Bad' campaign to screw with apportionment.

1.The Supreme Court is a complete joke. The credibility of this court is absolutely non-existent.

2.It was very clear that a hard right take over of the Court was probably going to happen if Clinton was not elected in 2016. I know she was a deeply flawed candidate who ran a bad campaign. But the alternative was complete loser Donald Trump and a Party that had already proven itself to be a bad faith entity-especially when it comes to the judiciary. I am worried that our electorate didn't learn from 2016 sufficiently. Because many people were focused on dumb stuff like email serves, we have a Court that is going to make life miserable for America for years to come. Plus an attempted overthrow of the duly elected government, and a cult formed around known loser Donald Trump of all people.

An opinion does not turn into a fact simply because the person holding it feels strongly about it.

Democrats are statistically just as aggressive in gerrymandering they just haven't had as much opportunity to do it.

Always remember that this is mostly what the Court has always done. Brown v. Board and Obergefell/expansion of rights are the outliers that they point to when questioned and to keep the investment of liberals in the institution. Generally, they're restricting real democracy, labor rights, privileging property and capital, expanding the police and surveillance state, etc.

Democrats won't though. They're too obsessed with the idea of the American institution and protecting the status quo. That's what is so maddening to me. They never learn. They refuse to learn. They're complicit in all of Republicans' shit due to inaction.

It's dumb. The founders and other early government guys were too optimistic in thinking that everyone would do their jobs in good faith. Or maybe this was their intention all along. Stupid either way.

USSC: Affirmative action? Fuck no! Racial gerrymandering? Fuck yes!

Fuck this timeline and fuck these racist fascist fucks.

Republicans are going to go ham destroying non-white representation in red states and make it even harder for Dems to gain any ground.

And the nerve of Alito, SC specifically said it was racial and this asshole says "this is just political gerrymandering because black people tend to vote for Dems".

Absolute travesty, throw this fucker out and into a gulag.

What's so messed up is that they don't even have to hide it when they're making bad faith rulings to serve partisan interests because the only people who have the power to remove them (Congress) are also out to serve partisan interests.

Dem states won't have to ignore anything. Republican states are the ones gerrymandering states to hell.

All this does is give Republicans a chance at winning the House, which they only won in 2022 because of partisan gerrymandering.

Because it was Republican judges chosen by Cuomo, who then drew a completely partisan map to favor Republicans, splitting Democratic districts to allow Republicans to take control.

Technically they said its legal as long as you say youre trying to design a district that increases the number of Republicans instead of disenfanchises minorities.

Yeah, Alito's opinion was "Black people tend to vote democratic, so this isn't racial gerrymandering, it's political gerrymandering"

Even though I believe SC in their plans literally said they were intentionally trying to racially gerrymander in order to hurt the black vote.

This country is fucked thanks to the Federalist Society and they'll never get what they truly deserve.
