I think Historically it was talk Radio that did it first with Limbaugh being a forerunner and Fox essentially just copied that model and went ham during the Obama presidency. It was Reagan's Administration rescinding the fairness doctrine that caused all of this.

Fox is bad, but it generally only feeds biases and viewpoints that already exist in their viewers.Where do you think those idiotic opinions came from in the first place?
It was Reagan's Administration rescinding the fairness doctrine that caused all of this.
Nah, the foundation is pretty much with Rush Limbaugh. When Fox News was being put together, Roger Ailes - who was the producer of Limbaugh's TV show - explicitly modeled the anchors on-air personalities after him.Again, Limbaugh wasn't being played in every waiting room across the country.
It was Reagan's Administration rescinding the fairness doctrine that caused all of this. This was the real kicker
Prior to Fox existing, politics were somewhat cordial and less chaotic.I strongly disagree with this specific claim, even if I think your broader point is mostly correct. The 60s and 70s were filled with major political figures being assassinated, and bombs and plane hijackings getting regular use as tactics of firinge political groups. The relative cordiality of the late 80s and 90s is a historical aberration, and even they were dotted with the LA Riots, Waco, the OKC bombing...
Reagan needs to be remembered as one of the worst presidents of all time. Every modern problem can be traced back to him in some way.
Right wing media is a cancer
Fox News is the most well known, yes, but now they're just one of many awful sources conservatives can use to base their shitty opinions
It's crazy how accurate this statement is. I listen to someone who between them and callers talk about various historical things and it's really opened my mind to the degree which Reagan truly fucked this nation. Dude even made a bargain with the terrorists during the Iran hostage situation to keep them longer because it would help his political odds and when he did beat Carter he got the hostages released.Bush was basically in lock step with him. It wouldn't have mattered.
It's a shame that dude wasn't a better shot because the sooner he would have been out of office the less harm he would have caused.

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/7/7876b184.jpgThis is stupid. 130 years passed between this and Fox News radicalizing people.
I would say that slavery was worse but that's just meSlavery didn't happen to the US. 1619 the US didn't exist. The land did, but the country did not.
Slavery didn't happen to the US. 1619 the US didn't exist. The land did, but the country did not.Okay, Jim Crow than.
Okay, Jim Crow than. You realize Fox has given us a modern day Jim Crow on steroids? The sequel always tends to be worse.
You realize Fox has given us a modern day Jim Crow on steroids? The sequel always tends to be worse. This is an insane take lol. How is fox preventing black people from voting??
9/11Pretty sure Fox was responsible for more deaths from covid than Bin Laden was for 9/11.
This is an insane take lol. How is fox preventing black people from voting??Ask Texas, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and every other deep red state.
Again, Limbaugh wasn't being played in every waiting room across the country.
crying about fox like it's fuckin 2003Long term damage due to Fox.
But he's the ur-example? The template for success that Fox has run like a 100m Olympic relay with? And who helped coerce voters into keeping these people elected? It wasn't Rush. It's Fox.
Even if you don't concede that, if we're doing all-time, capital-w Worst, I'd still point to Reagan and the economic policies who put the working class on a 40 year slide into poverty and a new feudalism, or Newt whose Contract on America was really the death knell for civility and bipartisanship in our government when it became openly and nakedly about seizing power instead of just governing with some maliciousness
Pretty sure Fox was responsible for more deaths from covid than Bin Laden was for 9/11.
That's a pretty simple way to look at how 9/11 changed thr countryFox didn't change the country?
