do i cave and get Hades 2 even tho it looks like trash to me?

Fear and Hunger seems scary and hard, two things i dont gel well with

but the buzz around it has been insane for years now. i feel like there's gotta be something good behind it

tried Blasphemous, hated it

  • Gungeon
  • Inscryption
  • Slay the Spire
  • Dead Cells
im thinking another small scale roguelike since the genre has been pretty hit for me so far. i've got like a thousand hours in BoI and Gungeon. BoI ive revisited since the launch of the original. but ive got a lot of time on all these. tho Spire is only 40 hours or so cuz i just got it

Vampire Survivors is pretty small, a run would only last 30 mins at most but might also end up feeling like they all play the same. It's very cheap but a great game if you're into it.
Risk of Rain 2 is great too.

If you like Card roguelikes, then Night of the Full Moon might be for you. It's free, and worth a few hours of playtime. I enjoyed it.

It basically is MMBN, yeah

other roguelikes I liked are crypt of the necrodancer and dungeon of the endless. but the former is very fast-paced actiony as well and the latter is sort of jank and hard to really recommend

Balataro is a really unique card rougue-like using normal playing cards and poker rules.

Papers, Please is a really interesting game that has a ton of different endings. The branching paths arent easy though. I find it good.

Vampire Survivors is a reverse bullet hell game where the rogue like part is having different weapons builds. And thats before getting into the huge cast plus DLC

All of them should be 20 bucks or less too.

Just do not expect to beat it any time soon if you don't look things up/cheat. Just prepare to assume the position and you might manage to make it past the dogs without too much maiming.

The original Darkest Dungeon is quite good and gels with a lot of these suggestions.

Just be sure to bind a key to holding down left or right or you will get carpal tunnel just from walking around the dungeons.

Some other suggestions (keeping in mind I've played and like most of the games mentioned in this thread):

Into the Breach - combines a lot of elements that card rogue likes have but in a turn based board mech game.
