They're investment banks.

They take your money and invest it.

I fucking hate spending hours of my life every year so I can save 50 on car insurance.

I do like being insured though.

Whats this? Are they measuring how likely you are to lose your job in the next few months or so?

Or charging you more just because you make more under that position?

Hell if you use them, they raise your rates

I look at insurance as just another vehicle tax.Ive never used it other than vehicle inspections. Mine is up to $20/mo now.

Just remember pinky, you will be safe when anyone under 25 cant actually drive the car they own to work and we ensure 70 year olds who cant see have easy access to vehicles.

Surely you can understand why we have to allow this state sponsored scam based on that.

Liability is substantially cheaper than full coverage, but it's bare minimum and you can't get it for newer cars iirc
Even when I had liability, it was never under even $100

US car insurance rates are insanely high compared to the UK.
'Vinyl is the poor man's art collection'.
my favorite part about car insurance is that they said I'd get loyalty perks if I become a longterm member...

what perks do I have after having the same insurance provider for over 10 years? Not sure yet. The closest "perk" I got was when one of their roadside assistant vehicles crashed into my parked car (they were driving to help someone else, not me)....and what do I get? A check from them for the damage....and raised rates because my car was involved in an accident.

My insurance regularly raises my rate about $15-$20 a year now and I have all the 'discounts' I can get and am a 10+ year customer. I called and chatted with an agent about it and its apparently the area I live in (big city) has a lot of un-insured drivers, so they just raise the rates for everyone to compensate that. They said if I was to move about 30-45 minutes away from my current location into smaller suburbs, my rate would go from 159/month to about 80-90/month or even lower.

I can't speak for how it works in the US, but here you're basically obligated to switch provider every year because they just plan on screwing you every year and bet on the fact that you can't be bothered to switch.

Yeah here its a bit the opposite, I quoted all the other providers around me and I have a perfect record pretty much, no wrecks, no tickets, etc. and all other providers wanted nearly 200+ a month while my provider has been cheaper because I've been with them for so long.

It seems if you live in a big metropolitan area, where there's a lot of drivers and un-insured drivers they raise the rates of everyone else to cover the difference. Sucks, but it is what it is.
