I did a little digging. Seems there's few accounts of yasuke, but what there is is reference to him being given stipends and having the duty of carrying nobunagas swords. Both are samurai things specifically. Bit odd that there's not more history about him though.He was a foreigner who gained some prominence due to having Nobunaga's favor. Once the latter was dead, I'm not sure anyone was left who cared about him, hence why he pretty much vanished from record.

This entire controversy is in English, which makes it all the more funny they keep pretending to be offended for Japanese gamers (because there is allegedly a shortage of games with a Japanese protagonist...).And really, it's not even a controversy to normal people.
