More or less Tinker bell is to sexy to be acceptable to the Disney board it seems...and also Peter pan is now to offensive to if this is right....good greif.
Remove Tinkerbell, but keep the character that wears seashells as a bra.

Makes sense.
It takes zero effort to be a good person.
aaaaah the modern/global audience catering strikes again.
Why is it that the world can't spell "lose" or "woman" right???
"But meet and greets with the character are still available at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, suggesting the Stories Matter findings may not have played a factor in the decision to end the characters meet and greets at Walt Disney World."

Seems like a bunch of made up outrage over nothing.

As for Peter Pan...

"The Stories Matter team also flagged Peter Pan for its negative portrayal of Native people and the use of redskins in the film."

Yeah that's fair, not sure why TC has a problem with it.
Seems like they really had to stretch to turn this into a story worth reporting. Disney didn't even make a statement

This. They're creating outrage bait based purely on speculation. Tinkerbell is not currently on the meet and greet rotation at Disney World in Florida, but is still on the rotation at Disneyland in California. The characters available for meet and greet just change periodically

What if this is all just the modern version of the "Disney Vault"?

As in, they know people can look up the old movies on YouTube and that can't be stopped, so they're just systematically finding ways for them to be somethingist hoping that means people will have to watch the new stuff instead.
There's a difference between canon and not-stupid.
It is pretty funny though how many posters in this topic are falling for this blatant nothingburger ragebait.

Good job, TC.
Disney went full Fandom and said No Hornyposting!
RIP Hornyposting on CE >_>
1999-2024
Yeah, this is bunk. They based it on a Q&A where they said Tinkerbell doesn't do the meet and greets. She's still around the park.

If anything, not having her in the meet and greets is more likely to protect the cast members from creepers.
...I think I'm done here...

Probably cant hire enough people that fit the requirements for the face character in Orlando. The pay is pretty shit and you have to act the whole time you are out.

Also all characters have height requirements.

  • Elsa, Anna, Rapunzel, Cinderella, Aurora, Belle, Ariel, Snow White, and Jasmine: 53 - 57
  • Mulan: 52 - 56
  • Tiana and Pocahontas: 55 - 58
  • Merida and Jane: 54 - 56
  • Tinkerbell and Periwinkle : 410 - 52
  • Rosetta, Silvermist, Iridessa, and Fawn: 52 - 55
  • Vidia, Flora, Fauna, Merryweather, and (Cinderellas) Fairy Godmother: 54 - 56
  • Mary Poppins: 55 - 58"
  • Alice and Wendy: 410 - 54
  • Esmeralda: 57 - 510
  • Meg: 56 - 58
  • All female villains: 56 - 510

This isn't lore-accurate. Maybe they should retire the character if they can't find an actress 14 inches tall.

Yeah tankerbell's height requirements are way off. Imagine a little person dreaming of playing her at Disney only to be turned away because she's too short.
This is where cool people write stuff.

Arrgh. Is this the end of lovable Igniz? Why!? There was no way I could lose! Why!? Why!?
If they still keep around Gaston and the creeper that was after Esmerelda, I can't imagine them ever getting rid of Tink for being kind of an asshole in PP, but nice in her own movies.
I don't believe in belts. There should be no ranking system for toughness.

They're probably more mad about the Native Americans saying "HOW" than when a white actress plays Tiger Lily in a live action movie.

I can't be angry at something so insignificant. Global/modern audiences are the target these days so Tink has to go. Pan's NA scenes I'm surprised they haven't relegated that to the abyss yet. Most companies don't go the Looney Tunes route and just put a disclaimer before things. They rather just remove it completely cause of shame. *remembers the change to "Savages" in Pocahontas*

My guy you're still outraged over literally nothing. Tinkerbell was not "removed" and you're falling for outrage clickbait.

"But meet and greets with the character are still available at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, suggesting the Stories Matter findings may not have played a factor in the decision to end the characters meet and greets at Walt Disney World."

Remember that one part in the movie where she is in awe at the size of her hips, and back then it was supposed to be a "hahaha! That's unattractive" joke?

How does Disney get away with this? This is clearly discrimination??

Then again, they were probably holding the pen when writing those bills so that's probably why

Considered a protected class, but under ADA rather than Title VII terminology.

well..technically paraplegic people are just as tall as anyone who can walk >_> but I'm guessing Disney's lawyers have figured out how to exclude them due to inability to do the job up to "their standards"

but the dwarfism thing might fall under ADA protections? though I'm guessing anyone with dwarfism who applies for a Disney park job gets funneled into certain characters

Your typical job protection in America is mostly baked into Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, and specifically prohibits discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex (including orientation and gender identity as of 2019), or national origin.

You're right, the ADA handles discrimination based on disability and operates a little differently, but I'm not educated enough to explain the particulars.
