the original is a brilliant movie, idk why yall hate it just cause of the ending, which doesn't change all that much. we could just edit that scene out and make it "normal" with the movie ending in exactly the same way and the movie would be almost just as good.

Like, it sounds like a normal home invasion horror movie, and then the second the heroine gets the upper hand the bad guybreaks the 4th wall, grabs a TV remote and "rewinds" the movie, undoing the heroine's actions.
I'm not here to argue the merits of the movie, becasue like I said I have not seen it, but that sounds like a "what can we do to make this different from every other home invasion horror flick, while also insulting the audience's intelligence?"
