Fuck fandom
I preffered serious discussions there or PotD as opposed to here where everything is some form of shitposting.
Hey guys.
Don't judge me for my shame of posting on CE too much, please. I went down a road, let's leave it at that.
other approved posters
we don't have beef with the locals, we're just not really here for the purpose of interacting with em.
CE lurker here, but expressing solidarity with B8.
Fuck fandom.
I am glad that we have found a way to continue the Politics Containment Topics, although I would prefer if we could turn down the xenophobia a bit. Let us do strangers the courtesy of presuming that some of them may, in fact, be able to make coherent and insightful arguments, or other valuable contributions to the topic.
But yeah back on topic, Trump is 100% going to fire (and possibly arrest) anyone who hasn't completely bent the knee to him. He did promise he'd be a dictator.his lawyer justifying political assassinations is absolutely baffling, but to that lawyer's credit, he is accurately representing trump!
Interesting that people with right-wing populist beliefs tend to go to Sinn Fein! I would have thought Fianna Fail would try and draw them in as we've seen a lot globally with the centre-right, although I'm not super clued in on Irish politics so I've probably missed something. Regardless of the many, many problems in the UK (again, I can't speak for Ireland but as far as I'm aware it's not quite so messy there right now?), the ultra-right have generally managed to be kept out of power, even though the Tories keep leaning in and flirting with them.
Most of my experience with nationalist parties is with Plaid, who are generally a bit more left than the SNP. And since Welsh national identity basically died until the 90s, outside of rugby and language in pockets, they've basically had to construct half of a more progressive national identity from scratch (I've got a migrant background and rarely feel unwelcome even when I have to mention my name to Welsh nationalists). Still some more conservative voters as I mentioned but it's very interesting to see how the different nationalist parties are taking different approaches, both socially and from the "get us the hell away from England" angle.
I'm out of loop did another board get banned? Or is title meant as keeping political discussions contained to this thread. It's a topic for the regulars on the contests board to discuss politics because they had always kept a single topic for politics so the board wouldn't get flooded with politics topics and because of the new rules they cannot even have that so they have one here.
https://www.scotusblog.com/2024/04/supreme-court-appears-likely-to-side-with-trump-on-some-presidential-immunity/They are his personal goons. Obviously they will do anything it takes to get him off.
Isn't that was Stormy Daniels was for? >_>It's what the entire republican party is for anymore. They all take turns.
Damn that is just the politics ban makes me wonder what other boards/threads got killed with the hornyposting ban.
idk you want me to post republican pollsters finding biden up? because i could because they have
we are f***ed.
Yes, I would love to see that, actually.k
How can you see margins this big and not be worried? I dont get it, man. If the Supreme Court rules that Presidents are above the law and Trump wins, we are fucked. It should be noted that it's always been legal for someone in prison to become the president. It's just been ignored because since a prisoner can't campaign and is obviously a bad choice for president it never mattered. Our system is unfortunately heavily slanted towards the rich and powerful being able to do anything, so if Trump goes to prison it isn't going to matter, he's still delectable unless he somehow gets censured or whatever the process is under the 21st amendment, and the Supreme Court hookers already gave him a pass there.
I do think Trump can win this election, don't get me wrong. But if I had to guess I still would favor Biden. But Trump's chances are not nothing and that should motivate people to ensure they get out and vote.
Polls are definitely concerning. We're also still very far out from an election, and the voters have the memory of a fucking goldfish. If they're not one of the minorities Trump are targeting, they see: "Prices go high, economy bad! Must vote out current President. Oooga Booga."
However, the Judiciary Law does not vest the Court with authority to craft an appropriate punishment when a $1,000 fine will not achieve the intended purpose. While $1,000 may suffice in most instances to protect the dignity of the judicial system, to compel respect for its mandates and to punish the offender for disobeying a court order, it unfortunately will not achieve the desired result in those instances where contemnor can easily afford such a fine. In those circumstances, it would be preferable if the Court could impose a fine more commensurate with the wealth of the contemnor. In some cases that might be a $2,500 fine, in other cases it might be a fine of $150,000. Because this Court is not cloaked with such discretion, it must therefore consider whether in some instances, jail may be a necessary punishment.
THEREFORE, Defendant is hereby warned that the Court will not tolerate continued willful violations of its lawful orders and that if necessary and appropriate under the circumstances, it will impose an incarceratory punishment;
