youtube existsText guides are objectively better than ad driven videos
I wasn't as big a contributor then (maybe 800 - 900 guides/maps)
For those suggesting youtube and other video guides, I hate those for most gamesThat's because they fucking suck. Especially for JRPGs.
Lol that is still fairly big SirMapsALot. ;)
That's because they fucking suck. Especially for JRPGs.Agreed
For those suggesting youtube and other video guides, I hate those for most gamessame. I find it difficult to do exactly what theyre doing while staring at my screen sometimes.
same. I find it difficult to do exactly what theyre doing while staring at my screen sometimes.Or they're talking over a section and if you need to the information repeated you have to listen to them talk, again and again, and again.
like Im just watching a video through my phone, you see them do something without explaining certain things, then when i try to emulate their behavior and I fuck it up immensely and im struggling to figure out how I messed up.
Or they're talking over a section and if you need to the information repeated you have to listen to them talk, again and again, and again. You know, that's fair. I used to make a bunch of text guides until I moved over to Youtube for video guides. Despite my attempts to make stuff as coherent and easily searchable within those videos as I can, I can't really "fix" the fact that there's still a significant portion of people who retain information better just by reading it.
It's probably just a me issue, but I can't stand the sound of most people's voices on repeat. Just let me read the info and process it.
Im gonna copy all of them and repost them after you delete them and take all the credit for them
I'm not at that point. Yet.
I want to be careful. I want to not just be reactionary. I want to not be petty.
This is work I'm proud of. I don't want to end that through pettiness.
Also.
It's my one card to play.
Maybe I can make text versions of my video guides and submit them to StrategyWiki. That might be the best I can do.People like me would be very appreciative of that.
People like me would be very appreciative of that.I'll definitely have to keep that in mind, then.
I'm not at that point. Yet.I can promise you fandom doesn't care about you

I can promise you fandom doesn't care about youAdmins have confirmed that Cyric's Yakuza guides bring in money.
Are there any better run sites he could post them on? If so, that's a win-win.Neoseeker is picking up where this site is failing.
Apocalypse would actually be a lot worse, you wouldn't have electricity or running water, grocery stores would be empty, etc.I lol'd
I can promise you fandom doesn't care about youThe one guy i know that brings in money isnt doing anything about it.
Why would you want them to stay on a site that profits off your labor while doing nothing to listen to you?
That question could be said about when CBS and Red Ventures took over. So while I understand what you're getting at. What's the point in asking this now?Well there's no way you're moving your content. But you have to admit that Fandom has a pretty bad reputation. Never heard anything about plagiarism issues at least.

based TCThat's only possible because the wiki licensing agreement allows anyone to use it at any time as long as the agreement is followed. For site contributions, they belong to the uploader.
although, this is Fandom we're talking about here, so they might just do what they did during the Wikia exodus, where they steal your contributions and continue hosting them anyway
I won't do it, for a couple reasons:
For one, I am not part of this group. I'm not one of you, and I don't really plan on being one either. I definitely sympathize with you all, because you do have a community here, and I see that. So I get that this change hurts you. But I worked way too hard to get where I am now as a contributor (and not as a user) on this site to have it all removed.
Which leads to the other reason, I have a massive mountain of maps. Now while I don't know how Zooper would do it behind the scenes (whether he can wipe everything at once, or do it one at a time). But if I am to guess each guide has to be removed individually, no way am I gonna spend weeks removing my stuff. And yeah, that's how long it would take too.
People still come to me saying they've used my maps to this day, so yeah people do come here.
Youtube is great for a visual representation. But it lacks a lot when compared to the helpfulness of written guides/maps. Plus, I'm betting a lot of those Youtube videos wouldn't exist without our help, not to sound arrogant/egotistical.
No we do not get revenue from ads. SBAllen wanted to do this during the CBS days, but after a few years of nothing, CBS decided against it because it be too much work. Believe me, that annoys me to no end.
What a weird flex post.
How is it weird?https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/humblebrag
Mods gonna make sure this place is a ghost town by 2025.End of the year. Keep throwing around moderations like candy and drive 99% of people out. I think I will Close this year. they'll get no more clicks from me. May as well use Reddit, even their picture rules are better.
IMO, you'd be punishing those who actually need the guides more than the site.not in a time when everyone can go anywhere else for help. Youtube for vid guides, and other forum sites with more users.

imagine if they didn't backup all their content in a databaseImagine if they got multiple copyright violations.
that would be
WILD
Would be cool if we made a site disgruntled users here could post their guides and such.I was just thinking this. Im like there's nothing stopping you from making your own site with rules and commentary. You can give it a goofy name like bootymeat.com
If I have a random question about a game I'll google it. But if I want a guide to play along with, like an older JPRG I want a nice guide. I still use em.
Just used shotgunnova's FFIX guide. Brilliantly written.
