It's supposedly a trust and safety issue with Fandom. No idea what that means from our end, as it may as well effectively be a black box.Site has been running just fine for 25+ years, suddenly fandom gets ahold of it and trust and safety is a problem huh
If nothing else, GameFAQs can be proud that it forced Fandom to use the term 'hornyposting' in an official release.
Probably not. I can't say too much on the subject, but the goal is not to close down all social boards. From the announcement post their primary concern is toxicity. CE is essentially being spared the hammer on political talks, as long as people retain some modicum of decorum. Any other social board should be fine since they're not related to politics.
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/8/89ef1207.jpgSay what you will, from my viewpoint this place has gotten better. Well, maybe not the Isreal threads. But overall better. The level limit on CE really helped keep a lot of the lower-effort trolls out.

You mean those losers may actually have killed CE?
Jesus christ
I would have been fine with bumping the karma limit to 250 and hitting ban evasion.
But eh. I got what I wanted.

No. They are banning politics sitewide essentially. So our options are basically CE open but politics banned or CE private but politics allowed.Frankly it would be lovely if they reopened the Politics board as well in a similar "LUE-like" fashion. Purg = death and only older accounts would quickly weed out basically any and all of the trolls.
Idk if it counts as a win, i think they wanted the 261 treatment. It's definitely not a win in their books. Non-insane people can still post freely, meanwhile they're suddenly on their last set of lives.
You're allowed to talk about if people are cute / attractive / maybe even sexy. You aren't allowed to make posts that would make say, a 13 year old girl visiting GameFAQs feel like this is a hostile environment towards women.
ie: Stuff like this. Don't do this anymore.
How easy is it to get purgatory and lose CE access forever? Dont you get put into purgatory while theyre deciding what to do with your account for anything more than a no karma loss moderation?
so are users who are currently in purg fucked right out of the gate? What I was wondering too

No additional users will be allowed to join? The fuck? This board was already dwindling, but banning new users is a death sentence for ceYeah, I've been on CE for half my life, through high school, college, and my career. Now it's gonna be gone
I dont think ce will live to see 2025, and thats sad. Theres really no other place on the internet like here
[User] is BANNED
" topics? It hits different.
Potd board is about to get way more popular as people lose access to CE*sigh* PotD doesn't need an influx of CEmen

What about the current events topics that take place on the NGS social board? That contains alot of charged, extreme right wing discussion on world politics, generally. Will that be deleted, or remain as is?Depends. Political discussion as it relates directly to gaming is still allowed. A lot of things also still aren't technically a political issue even if politicians like to make it that way. For example, I certainly wouldn't be moderating posts talking about the BLM stuff in Spider Man games. For one, when I was in the military we were explicitly told that BLM is not a political statement, and that soldiers were allowed to participate. And for two, it's in the game itself. People can totally talk about that.
