Bonus question: How did you learn how to swim?
https://i.imgur.com/XNEdLrJ.png
Grew up swimming. My grandparents had a large pool. From my earliest memories I was in the water. Grandpa taught me to open my eyes underwater by placing coins on the bottom of the pool. I spend my entire summers swimming pretty much every year as a kid. Either at my grandparents or at the pool near me in my town. My dad always bought me a pool pass. I can swim well.

Plus when I got to junior high we had swimming in gym class. It lasted a semester. It was at the same pool near my house I had a pool pass for. I was already a great swimmer by the time it came up in 7th grade.

i learned how to young

but i dislike being wet, i hate being submerged, i fear any water I can't stand in and I don't float, i sink.
The name is wackyteen for a reason. Never doubt.
I can swim well, but definitely not a great swimmer

My mom threw me in the deep end as a toddler (my step dad was in the pool)
Cookin like a chef, I'm a 5 Star Michelin
No. I'm a goner if the water is too deep for me to stand with my head above water. I'd like to learn eventually though. I want to get a nice house with a pool.

I used to be a lifeguard in college. I'm not fast but I have great control in water and can hold my breath for a long time >_>

If a pool isn't at least 8ft deep, I ain't happy! I love not being able to feel the bottom of the pool
Neon >_>
I can do more than doggypaddle but Im not a great swimmer
Yes but I have a weird aversion to water and it's not an activity I enjoy. I didn't even learn how until I was in my teens.

I do not.

I live smack in the middle of the country. There's never been any reason for me to learn.

I took swimming classes as a kid, but Im pretty sure I have forgotten. Not sure if itd kick in during a life or death situation.
No, and the thought of being past shallow water freaks me out
...I think I'm done here...
Yep. I grew up swimming and it's something that I still love doing as an adult whenever I have the chance.

Other than pools, I've swam in ponds, rivers, lakes and the ocean and consider myself to be a pretty decent swimmer.
Save for your doomed future
I swam for exercise regularly to improve the quality of my breathing with asthma. I swim about a mile while listening to tunes underwater
No. I went under when I was like 3 or 4 and took in some water in my lungs and it scarred me for life. I was using water wings at the time but they didn't keep me afloat.

I was forced to take swimming lessons in like 4th or 5th grade but I just pretended to be sick so I could get out of doing it.
Like it or leave it. Hey, where are you going?

Yep, really well. Had a boat and a pool from a very young age and took swimming lessons as well. Just recently tore down my pool due to rust, wish I had an inground pool like I did as a kid to actually swim in. :/

I've lived in Los Angeles all my life. The beach is just a hop, skip and a jump away. Didn't stop me from not learning how to swim XD

Swam competitively through high school. Was probably good enough to have been on a college team but did running instead.
Why be stupid? Does it make you happy to be stupid?
I was forced into doing it competitively as a kid and hated every second of it after the first year
my old computer died and i didn't feel like resetting the password to my original account, so i created this one instead. now i only use it when i use my iphone
Im a swim instructor, so I would certainly hope so.
Yes I learned in primary school and spent a lot of my child/teenhood at the local pool with friends

I took swimming lessons as a kid and was able to swim the length of the pool alone, but I literally have not been in a pool in like 20+ years.

I'm still lifeguard certified. I love swimming.
In simplicity, utility. Through utility, simplicity.
I'm not a strong swimmer and I'm too dense to float or tread water for long. So I can like swim the length of a pool well enough, but I'm getting fairly tired from it because I'm bad at it. If I stop legit swimming I immediately sink straight down and create a whirlpool effect, so any attempt to save me also dooms my potential hero.
I don't believe in belts. There should be no ranking system for toughness.

Well enough to survive if thrown into a large swimming pool or reasonable size lake. I won't be winning any competitions though.
Do, or do not. There is no Trumble.

You probably should shower afterward, yeah. But for the most part it just feels like water.

I haven't swam in several years. But I'm sure I still know how if I was forced to. Its not really a skill you can forget
I got by on doggy paddling my whole life, until my girlfriend-at-the-time decided it would be a good idea to swim out 3 miles past the buoy barrier, where a shark swam past, about 15 feet beneath us. This unlocked something in my animal brain that made me swim like a motherfucker, and I've been great ever since.

Is that the reason she's not your girlfriend anymore?

No, she decided she was too tired to keep swimming and would rather die, so I carried her back the whole fucking 3 1/2 miles.

I did, at first, swim away, then swim back, then swim away, then swim back before I realized she just wasn't swimming with me.

Im not sure. I can swim from one end to the other, but if I stop, Ill either learn to tread water or drown.

I can sorta do something a bit better than a doggy paddle to safety. Not even a decent swimmer though that's for sure.

There's a poll option missing.

I can do more than doggy paddle and am fairly comfortable in the water, but I'm by no means a great swimmer.
Nope. Never had a reason to learn and I have a strong aversion to being in water anyways.

The poll wants you to have to insult yourself for not being an Olympian.

But it doesn't realize that it totally shot itself in the foot by also making it possible to exaggerate your capability by simply being halfway competent, so do that instead and ruin the TC's day.

middle option, I don't swim underwater. always hated the feeling of being submerged and unable to breathe.

don't remember when i learned, but i grew up in florida, we always had a pool and went to the beach at least once every year.
