If you ask me, no. They are the hardest to brush. According to internet, 85% have them all taken out.

They do this at about 18 for reasons. But they are legit teeth. But.....you know.

Mine were taken out because they would have come in crooked and messed up all of my other teeth.

My fronts were taken off in 2016

I could slack my jaw and drop enough blood to cover the grass.

I think I still have mine, I remember my brother had to have his removed but the x-rays showed mine would come in just fine.
Are we the baddies?
I got one left. Some lady says....yeah you could come back the next day etc etc.

Not wisdom teeth pull. After day 3, I went into shock.

I got braces late and at some point they decided to remove all 4, so it was preventative in my case

I had mine pulled last year because there were cavities growing in the very back corners where it was hard for me to brush. Rather than bother filling them, since they'd likely have the issue again eventually, I had them pulled. I don't regret it, but I do wish I had done it younger.

The recovery in your 30s is way worse than if you do it when they first come in.

Can confirm. Had all 4 of mine pulled last year due to the risk of infection from not being able to brush them properly, even though none were causing me any pain. The recovery was not pleasant at the age of 37. Thankfully I avoided dry socket but I had lower jaw soreness for a few weeks due to how one of them grew in.

I got mine pulled because I kept biting the hell out of my cheek.
Trying is the first step towards failure, so just dont give it a shot and you cant dissapoint.
I had my jaw ones removed a couple of months back since they were at 90 degrees.

Took me about 10 days before I could eat solids
ooh
apparently i was born without them.

They can be difficult to keep clean if you aren't able to brush them properly. After a dental appointment earlier this year, I found out that my upper right sheared in half and the upper left is decayed. The bottom two have had cavities filled in the past, so as long as I keep them clean, they do not need to be pulled. The upper right was pulled a few weeks ago. The upper left will be pulled at the beginning of May.
I got 2 on my left side taken out cuz one was impacted, and then like 5 years later I got the remaining 2 on my right side taken out cuz 1 had a cavity and they were like "fuck it" >_>

The impacted surgery was a bitch and I couldn't eat solids for 3 days and had immense pain. But the non-impacted surgery was so smooth. I had no pain and was able to eat in a day and a half.

They gave me Vicodin which did nothing for me. Honestly ibuprofen had the best effect, so I'd recommend that if you're not taking it already.

I got all 4 of mine out a couple years ago. the bottom left one came in sideways and ended up breaking in half from pushing against the molar next to it. also ruined that molar too so I had to get that out

They will give you a weeks course of hydrocodone (or should)

But it only worked in and if itself in 1 pill for me when I got my 3rd pulled last year. I had to to combine it with ibuprofen for it to continue to work like that.

Mine were pulled back in 2003. I couldnt feel or see anything, but I distinctly remember hearing crunching sounds, which I believed was the sound of my teeth being extracted.

Yup. You'll feel pressure and hear those sounds of.....well something like concrete being pulled out, basically.

I'm on 600mg ibuprofen, and something called tramadol. Its... adequate. But it wears off pretty quick and I'm pretty sure I'm going to run out of pills before I run out of pain.

How recently did you get a pull? Maybe contact your dentist and see if you can get a course of hydrocodone?

Also you can exceed 600mg ibuprofen if needed. I was taking 1800mg of painkillers at one time (for other pain) when I normally only take 400 (2 pills)

The painkillers were 1000mg naproxen and 800mg ibuprofen combined, for a chest wall pull and a back drop out.

I used to take acetaminophen, then it stopped working.

Then excedrin, which blew away my headaches, until it stopped working.

Ibuprofen? It always works. And it's still cheap (unless you get it at CVS. Go to Walmart for that)

They did pre emotive pulls of mine when I was 18. Seemed better than waiting for them to impact

Do you get to choose the pain relief they give you for wisdom teeth removal? I need to get my removed but I want Oxycodone. I had that once before for surgery and it was amazing.

they don't always impact. In my case, they just decay. They are legit teeth, but the easiest to go south.

They were pulled on Wednesday. At this point the pain is mostly in my cheeks oddly enough. The surgeon really shredded up the inside of my cheeks. I have some 800mg ibuprofen left over from a separate issue that I'll take if I need.

Aww fuck sure hope at 30 I don't need this anytime soon, my teeth could be in a better place & I only have 3 wisdom teeth one of them never formed. The 3 I have will need to be pulled if I get corrective work done, but they're close to a nerve line & there's a chance I could lose feeling in my lower jaw

When I was in the military they pulled them in boot camp for prevention. They didn't want it to become an issue later because of the training I was doing. So since they saw I was going to nuclear power school they just pulled them in boot camp.

They had to cut through my gums and go deep to get them. That sucked for about a week. In the long run though it was over and I knew it would never become an issue.

Same. Only this was when I discovered I was deathly allergic to codeine.

After they finally revived me I puked my guts out out for three days. Basically dry heaves. Worst pain Ive ever felt.

My friends who are Marines had them taken out during enlistment (to avoid future readiness problems), but I'm old and I'm not sure if they still do that.
I also fucked around and had all of my wisdom teeth extracted in my 30s (did them all at the same time). It sucked for about 3 days but wasn't really that bad for me, thankfully. The fucking bill was stupid but the procedure itself was fine; I went to sleep because fuck the alternative.

That said, I have mild regrets about it because on the one hand, I'm no longer chewing on the inside of my cheek but on the other, I feel that the rest of my teeth have gone to shit without them and suddenly I've had 2 crowns, 2 extractions, and 2 more crowns lined up. My teeth were never that bad with all of them in my head. It's like taking those out made the rest of my teeth more brittle or something.

Question for anyone. Do the holes left by the wisdom tooth extraction ever fully fill in? Not just heal, but actually fill in like there was no tooth there. I had them extracted late last year and everything healed, but now i have these pockets where food gets trapped.

Yes, but it takes much longer than 2 weeks. it takes at least 2 months or so for the remaining soft tissue to fully heal after the fact.

I mean..you're going to experience some pain. that's just the nature of surgery and having parts of your body ripped out. Painkillers are just supposed to make it manageable, not 100% painless

I went to work the day after getting mine out without even taking painkillers but I've got pretty high pain tolerance. I didn't start taking the oxy's they gave me until a few days later. and I saved a few of them for when my back pain got really bad months later.

Yeah, this kinda the issue I run into whenever I google about this. It's always about healing the wounds a few weeks after the surgery. No much out there about what it's like a year out.

Damn. Been about 6 months for me. Figured it would take like a year to close up, but guess it's possible for them to stay open. Is this common for others?

That's odd. Mine were all closed up after about six months, I'd say. Can't even tell there were teeth there. And they went deep on one.

I had mine taken out last year since they were growing weirdly and stabbing into my nerve causing pain. Couldn't even sleep at the time from it.
Regardless of warnings, the future doesn't scare me at all.
