what is your main reason for not wanting too, it isn't low pay is it? cops aren't paid a great deal in most places....
Lol no, I prefer to help my community in actually meaningful ways and could never be paid to abuse people and violate their civil rights
If anyone disparaged you the way you disparage yourself, I would wish to strike them with an axe
First, they wouldn't have me. I'm terrible with authority.
Second, I wouldn't want to.

It's a part town, and in the Summer it's also a resort town.

And then you have other issues, last week there was an Amber Alert that went bad just about a week ago.

No, I would not want that all to be too top of mind.
I honestly don't know how they do it.

What was that story?, in a pipe, how did that happen?
i could never imagine myself working as a cop. specially in the United States.

well maybe except in the IT department or something... not in the line of duty tho.
Highway patrol? Maybe. Just driving up and down the LI Expressway wouldn't be that bad.

Other than that, I don't see myself as a cop, unless it was desk work
It takes zero effort to be a good person.

No way.

Dont get me wrong, they are awful. However, travel to a few developing countries and then try to make that claim.

The difference is that theres no good reason why US police forces are as bad as they are.
My local police are pretty mild. I'm sure I could do it.

I live in an affluent area soooo
Common sense says it may not taste good, but it'll make a turd.
I wouldn't be a cop, but this would be the best town for one. Low crime in an affluent area and a high percentage elderly population. The cops don't have much to do, which is what we used to say when the cops would get called on us for skateboarding as kids.

No but I live in a small town and saw one. Had to get the fuck out of the way so the cop could pursue unhindered. So it happens even in small towns.

I saw the car abandoned later down the road and several cops running around with flash lights no clue if they caught him

It was more than speeding. Dude was in the lane next to me sped ahead of me and cut me off with very little distance between us. Road was packed so I went into the turning lane to give the cop a opening to safely get in that lane

He was weaving in and out of lanes at high speed

many cities have a no chase policy, have heard others say, criminals know you won't chase then they will just take off
Hell no. I'd never be a cop. I knew since I was young that I'd never want that job.

I don't care about the pay. I have no desire to do a potentially dangerous job, and then there's all the unethical stuff American cops do.

Yeah, most of the time you're not going to get into firefights, and there's other positions besides being a beat cop, but no thanks.

Policing isnt nearly as dangerous as they say it is. Delivering pizza is more dangerous.

Yeah, dangerous, to or for the cop, kinda sadly
No. I live in the most criminally active city of my country, we have like 127 cops and that will go down to 90 soon. Meanwhile criminals are becoming more violent. Its a recipe for a bad time.
It would be a piece of piss, honestly.

Couple of burglaries a while back (now everyone has had cameras and alarms installed). A missing vulnerable adult who might have been seen in the area. One or two minor traffic accidents.

That's all I can remember happening.

You like most cops in your area, You wanna say what country this is?
Assuming I didn't care about pay, I think it'd be interesting to try out for a little bit.

I kind of think it's probably a good thing to have less "stereotypical" people become cops. Be the change you want to see and all that.

The Netherlands, the southeast region of the country. All the factors that contribute to crime are basically present there: lots of migration in a very racist aging area so theres a divided population and social strife, a region that lost its purpose (mines were closed and that doomed the region to poverty), and borders two neighboring countries so its perfect for drug trafficking.

Cops want people to think their job is dangerous because they want to be revered as heroes, but its a lie.

Pulling someone over on the highway has to be scary as fuck though. So many stories about cops getting hit by passing vehicles.

Possibly. Heavily Asian community, with many in the police force. Very little malicious crime. I'd like to think there's not enough going on here to worry about corruption.

Yes. And prior to Covid and the increase in police murdering innocent people in the last few years, I was actually working on applying to CHP.

I had even contacted the recruitment officer and was preparing for the PAT (physical exam) and PELLETB (written exam).

My plan was to focus on responding to traffic accidents, rather than writing tickets and then promote as high as I could once I had enough years on the job.

But yeah, no thanks now. I'm not trying to be lumped in with ACAB or ambushed by someone that hates cops.

Sweden is a few countries north and Switzerland a few countries southeast. Sweden locally has issues with crime too I believe, dont know too much about Switzerland but I cant imagine it being a huge issue there.
