Shame for it to happen right when Sand Land is getting some new media. His artstyle, especially his mechanical designs, and having a sense of humor are things I'm going to remember.

... I think it's fair to say that he is one of those people who shaped popular culture. Not just anime/manga or video game culture, but pop culture in general.

Almost ALL creative people who are making things now are influence by the works of Toriyama, just as much as they are influenced by a Steven Spielberg, Shigeru Miyamoto, or Michael Jackson.

He will be missed, but his influence will stay with us forever.

Toriyama changed everything for anime and manga. I'm so upset he's gone. And we're still in the middle of a resurgence for dragon ball. New show, new games, a sandland game, super manga.

He's created a long lasting ripple in the industry that will continue to roll on for a long time. I'll miss him.

It says a lot that both Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy largely used the D&D monsters yet DQ has incredibly unique and iconic designs (the slime is the obvious standout) while Final Fantasy had stuff that looked a lot like the D&D monster manual (to the point where Beholder got replaced by Evil Eye to avoid a lawsuit).

The main inspired countless people across the world to get into drawing and animation he changed an entire genre and he did it all while just trying to tell a funny story about robot girls and monkey boys. This really hurts I know oda is especially hurting those two were really close and we know how heavily one piece was inspired by him. Then there's dragon quest and chrono trigger toyotaro must especially be devastated the dude was just one of many fan artists who got picked up sometimes before toriyama personally brought him on.

Truly terrible news. He influenced so many things I loved when I was growing up. I watched DBZ before school, I grew up playing Chrono Trigger and then later the DQ series. He made my childhood so great.

Oh man, subdural hematomas are scary as fuck. My grandma had one and existed for three weeks like that, until we forced her to go to the ER. They said she was VERY lucky to be alive. Shes fully recovered now, but its scary and horrible.

Im so sorry he had to go through that at the end.
