A Sydney paparazzo says Taylor Swift's 71-year-old father "punched" him in the face causing him to file a police report about the alleged attack.
Ben McDonald had been following the megastar while she has been in Australia for The Eras Tour, when he said Scott Swift assaulted him.
The pop star had performed her final show in Sydney and was celebrating with a cruise on Sydney's harbour, before disembarking with her entourage at Neutral Bay Wharf in the early hours of Tuesday morning, according to Mr McDonald.
He said her security personnel pushed umbrellas into his camera and face, and at some point [Mr Swift] "has entered the fray".
"He's charged in and punched me in the face," he said.
Mr McDonald from Matrix Media, said Mr Swift's famous daughter was already inside a car by this point.
At the time, he assumed it was a "poorly trained and unprofessional" local security guard.
Mr Swift did not say anything to Mr McDonald during the alleged altercation.
NSW Police have confirmed they are investigating the incident.
"Police have been told a 71-year-old man allegedly assaulted a 51-year-old man at Neutral Bay Wharf about 2:30am, before leaving the location," they said in a statement.
"The younger man reported the incident and inquiries are now underway by officers attached to North Shore Police Area Command.
"The man did not require medical treatment."
Mr McDonald said injuries were not too serious.
Two individuals were aggressively pushing their way towards Taylor, grabbing at her security personnel, and threatening to throw a female staff member into the water."
This obviously shouldn't be taken as an indictment against the character of all rich people.
Her team respondedSounds like he was lucky to only get punched.
The paparazzi also has a restraining order placed against him by Nicole Kidman because he planted a listening device on her property.
I've had no respect or sympathy for paparazzi ever since Princess Diana's death
I've had no respect or sympathy for paparazzi ever since Princess Diana's deathI always think about the clip of them hounding Sean Penn afterwards when he was walking into a club:
You can't "assault" the paparazzi, they aren't people.
I always think about the clip of them hounding Sean Penn afterwards when he was walking into a club:Did the paparazzi really say that?
Penn: "Don't you have a princess you have to go kill?"
Paparazzo: "Nah, we already did that."
Did the paparazzi really say that?
billionaire's dad assaults peon
I wouldn't pee on a paparazzi if they were on fire.I'd pee next to one and let them watch, being careful to not get any on them.
billionaire's dad assaults peon
I wouldn't pee on a paparazzi if they were on fire.Sounds like an excuse to yell "Worldstar!!!" and film it.
Good.
Did the paparazzi really say that?
I was curious and checked to see if anyone ever faced justice for her death. In 1997, 9 photographers were arrested and charged. But in 2002, the highest court in France dropped all changes. I didn't see why. But in the end, Diana never got justice. Pretty fucked up
I'm not defending the paparazzi, but the main person at fault was surely her extremely drunk professional driver going double the speed limit in a tunnelThere was enough blame to go around. If they hadn't been chasing them, would he have been speeding like that? In most civil law that would make them civilly liable even if they weren't directly criminally liable.
It's a bit "look what they made him do" to put the blame heavily on the paparazzi members, as annoying and legit damaging to society as they are
Still hard to believe Charles left Diana for that uglyass Camilla.Charles and Camilla were together before he ever met Diana.
There was enough blame to go around. If they hadn't been chasing them, would he have been speeding like that? In most civil law that would make them civilly liable even if they weren't directly criminally liable.
And the driving while drunk?
There was enough blame to go around.
Assaulting paparazzi is the morally correct thing to do.Not really, it's what they want. The only bigger badge he could have gotten is if Taylor herself assaulted him.
