So you guys are literally angry at a TV adaptation of a kids comic for removing sexist characters?
Nothing sus about that.

I thought I explained it well, but the reason I wasn't upset over Sokka having that removed was that it wasn't really that key to his development. It was a short-staying thing where he was proven wrong in short order and it kind of stays gone. The most it does is imply the Water Tribes might be patriarchal in general.
Based on what your saying we shouldn't have obstacles in fiction at all. The argument here isn't that I like the sexism of the Northern Water Tribe, it's that it was written as an obstacle to overcome, as a flaw of that Water Tribe, and we follow Katara triumphantly overcoming the men who view her as inferior. It's a good element of the story in a bunch of ways, why remove that? Why make it less interesting? Is overcoming gender bias a dated concept?

So you guys are literally angry at a TV adaptation of a kids comic for removing sexist characters?Yes sussy boy, because we watched the show and saw the character grow and change, saw a kids show tackle subjects like sexism and thought thats pretty cool.
Nothing sus about that.
I thought I explained it well, but the reason I wasn't upset over Sokka having that removed was that it wasn't really that key to his development. It was actually. He changed his views completely after getting owned by the kinship warriors. It was key to his personal growth as a character as after that ass whooping he started seeing women as equals. So removing that is a crime imo.
That said I will never dismiss a show before I watch it. Last time I did that the show in question ended up being my favorite show of 2023.what show
