It's just that directors have long since forgotten that the Marines were only able to hurt them because they had armor-piercing, explosive rifle rounds. Otherwise, you can't actually just take down Xenos with standard guns
It's just not scary when it looks so fake, *and* whenit's just soaking up bullets left and right, I liked that the original aliens were vulnerable to weapons just fine, they're just so fast and freaky and target people without weapons that it made for a terrifying thing.

My favorite part of the movie by far was thebackbursterscene, but not for the reason they intended. The entire thing,from the backburst itself to the ship blowing up, is a masterwork of unintentional comedy. It's fucking hilarious .

Alien Resurrection begs to differ. Spoilers.That's my point though. It's either a retcon or the shot went through because it was super high powered. Aliens made it clear that handguns do not affect Xenos even if they only a mere few feet away. Gorman shoots one in the face multiple times and the bullets bounce right off. Vasquez could only kill one after shooting the same spot at point-blank range like 3-4x before a shot gets through and it bleeds.
