It's just not scary when it looks so fake, *and* when
it's just soaking up bullets left and right, I liked that the original aliens were vulnerable to weapons just fine, they're just so fast and freaky and target people without weapons that it made for a terrifying thing.
They really aren't vulnerable to "weapons" technically. It's just that directors have long since forgotten that the Marines were only able to hurt them because they had armor-piercing, explosive rifle rounds. Otherwise, you can't actually just take down Xenos with standard guns
