Damn, I knew they were going to obfuscate the history of slavery with a white slant, but I admit I didn't think they'd actually try to paint it as a positive for them with "learned skills".

Its not that easy. Asking people to walk away from their career like that is a difficult decision.

However, Florida is like 48th in the country in teacher pay. There is a national teacher shortage, so its not that difficult to find a job in a new state. Relocating though, its tough.

The bottom line is that this is on the voters of florida who side with this garbage.
My resolution - the next time the Eagles are in the Superbowl, I'm going!

This reminded me of when I visited Savannah once and we went on a little bus tour. They told us all about how the slaves could be heard singing in the fields while at work and afterwards they got to build churches for themselves. Shit was disgustingly upbeat about how the slaves had it.
I don't believe in belts. There should be no ranking system for toughness.

Give it a few months, there's already been Republicans like that in the past. One of the things that sunk Roy Moore's campaign was saying that during slavery was when the black family was strongest.

I mean, learning the required skills was required to stay alive which can be seen as a personal benefit, but something tells me they want to rewrite history as "We welcomed poor and uneducated Africans. They had to work off their travelling costs and we learned them skills that helped them, and then they were free. But since they were uneducated, they called it 'slavery'. We did it for white people too, it is called indentured servants".
