over 528 hours lol

have fun grinding for a year, get rich or die trying

in case there's any confusion for anyone cuz i didn't word it well, i am asking if you would accept the challenge of achieving 100% in the game Spider: Rite of the Shrouded Moon in a time less than 528 hours 9 minutes and 47 seconds within a year or else you die

Beat it in what way? Faster run or make a longer one?

Wdym, you want us to get it done faster or slower? It's a speedrun...

Anyway 500 hours in an year is piss easy. I can put 1000 hours into a game comfortably.
My maid will hear about this.

What makes the game so long?

So that's around 22 days. If you take absolutely no breaks you have 16 tries in an entire year. I'd probably just spend the first bit studying how to do it perfectly and give myself time for like 3 to 5 tries

It says part 7. Is there more of this game?
You gonna do something or just stand there and bleed?
Runs like this tend to be very niche and so there's probably a vast multitude of time saves that even the runner themselves know about. There's also the chance it's another one of those dumb runs where you have to just wait an arbitrary amount of time before final achievement ticks or something. Would be fairly easy for any normal gamer to figure out I'm sure. Now going into it completely blind without the help of the community running the game may be a different story.

There are games that take longer to beat. Doubly so if you add in arbitrary restrictions.

It's a segmented run.

It will be easy. Long runs are so unoptimized. Easiest deal of my life.

The game uses real day/night and moon cycles, so it takes nearly a month real time to get everything.

that's essentially what speedrunners always do, route it first then practice some difficult portions/tricks then put it all together in runs where they keep starting the runs over and over when they screw up hard/get really unlucky

the good news is this is the only person who put up a 100% time for this game so it could be extremely unoptimal/person could have screwed up big in the middle of it but kept the run going so it's not like you're competing against a community of super mario 64 speedrunners

do not know, i dont think the entire run is posted lol, legit over 528 hours of footage of some game i never even heard of

So it's a very short Animal Crossing? I have over 1000 hours in that and I hate it. Takes an year of real time to get everything if you play as intended. Maybe more if you're filling in catalogue.

Sort of. Hence why I mentioned arbitrary restrictions. The game has an in-game way to manipulate things but they don't use them for the run. You could just as easily do an "Animal Crossing, but no turning off the game" and end up with 100x that run's length.

I looked up the game's 100% guide and I think I found out why the speedrun is 22 days.

Spider is a smart game that knows your local weather outside and the current phase of the moon where you are. There are four possible weather conditions - day, night, rainy day, and rainy night. You'll need to play in all of them, and you may find some conditions are easier than others in some levels. Every weather condition has a different mix of insects to eat, and some insects only come out during certain weather conditions, during the day/night, etc. If for any reason you can't get certain weather to proc, you can use the weather machine, but this only changes either time or weather, and it recharges only when the moon is in its next phase.

Category rules for 100% read as follows:

Attain a completion percentage of 100%, visible in the save files menu. Timer starts on hatching from your egg and time ends once you complete your final mystery. Video proof of the percentage completed showing 100% must be provided, ideally recorded and shown immediately after completion of the run.

Nowhere does it say I can't use exploits and nowhere does it say I can't manipulate time using the system clock and stuff.

I know very, very little about this game, but it seems like the rules are lenient enough that with a bit of research, it should easily be within the realm of possibility to do it within a year.

Even if major exploits weren't useable, and the "no time manipulation" ruleset is added, the catch to the dudes record time is... he is the only one who recorded a time in that category. That means merely watching his video, copying his run, and finding a handful of timesaves is all it would even take to beat it in the first place.

This seems super doable.

It doesn't, no. I was just pointing out a much longer run that had videos attached.
