I go back and forth on them; there are things I prefer about the first one (Adventure Fields, individual campaigns, world design), and things I prefer about the second (overall gameplay/controls, story, animation)
I'm genuinely surprised Sega hasn't tried to reimagine SA2's chao garden as a standalone game, especially with how well-suited the concept is to a mobile/live service game.
Oh and of course the Chao Garden was expanded quite a bit in SA2
The original by a looooong shot
Sonic 3 movie trailer tomorrow
I go back and forth on them; there are things I prefer about the first one (Adventure Fields, individual campaigns, world design), and things I prefer about the second (overall gameplay/controls, story, animation)Same. I love the world design of SA1 and how it tells it's story, but I think the core gameplay of SA2 is more polished and fleshed out. It's also much more challenging, SA1 is actually like super easy, for the most part.
80% of the game or more is spent on non-hedgehog stages, and none of them are good. That's true for the first one too.
If you're just playing to get through the story, Big is a non-issue. His stages are comically easy and short. I can see why people can get frustrated with them though. Some of the fishing mechanics are not communicated very well. Like holding the stick neutral when you get a bite, I've seen a lot of people get tripped up on that. Please tell me more about this neutral stick position. That might be what's getting me.
And if you're going for all emblems, I don't think the game tells you that you need all the lure upgrades for the 2000g fish to even spawn. This actually tripped me up back then. I spent way too much time trying to find these super elusive fish only to eventually realize I was missing a lure upgrade...
Outside of City Escape there was no real memorable SA2 stages though I liked the final boss.Maybe it's because of the rap but I feel like I remember every single Knuckles stage - pumpkin hill obviously, aquatic mine, wild canyon, the space one... those are the ones off the top of my head.
Please tell me more about this neutral stick position. That might be what's getting me.I misremembered... You actually have the pull the control stick down the second you get a bite not hold it neutral, otherwise you'll instantly loose whatevers biting.
I despise the fishing
I misremembered... You actually have the pull the control stick down the second you get a bite not hold it neutral, otherwise you'll instantly loose whatevers biting.Hopefully i remember that next time i play. I can get fish on my line, but it takes forever to reel them in successfully.
