growing up in Texas suburbs, they were pretty common

here in Scotland, lol no. too cold and you don't have big enough yards for it anyway usually. people who like to swim go wild swimming.

Pretty much. If you live in an area that never gets super hot or has ready access to beaches? Not so much. If you live in an area that does get really hot and where there aren't many other options for swimming? They become a lot more desirable.

Yeah, theyre pretty common here because its hot. There may be giant lakes but nobody wants to swim in them.
I've only seen a few around here. We have a decent public pool and pretty dramatic seasonal changes so private pools aren't a huge thing here.

Too much maintenance for only being able to use them 3-4 months out of the year (at least in my area). And indoor pools basically smell like a chlorine factory.
