I've never been able to appreciate Akira Toriyama's art.

It's actually discouraged me from playing games that I might otherwise have played, like the later Dragon Quest games (his art style was less obvious in the earlier games, when they were using NES graphics, but the newer games make it very on-model and very visibly his work).

I wish we got something similar with Amano... nothing looks like the watercolours and promo art in the actual Final Fantasy games, although ff6 comes close some times

I think the closest I know off the top of my head was Kartia. But that wasn't all that much more, because that was a PS1 game compared to the early NES/SNES Final Fantasy games.

Wound up watching the s35 Simpsons Halloween episode (meh) and the Theranos spoof (woohoo!). Out of all the episodes I've watched recently, the Theranos spoof was probably the only to hit it out of the park.

I've enjoyed that particular art style, although it feels weird at times because I associate it with his manga/anime.

I'm still alive. I have rhe flu. I'm getting better, but it's still the bloody flu.

I'm also preparing for my honeymoon.

But Wave, you've been married for 7 years already.

Yes, I have, but I've been very sick, and in the hospital a lot, and I'm finally well enough to go do things.

Where are you going?

Well, that's to be told in another post.

To be fair, the trailers for that movie made it look better than most of DC's actual mainline movies.

Granted, that's a low bar these days...

In hindsight, that's probably a fair question. I hadn't seen the trailers or commercials, but the art style and promotional materials had made me curious. I'd even already picked up mini figurines of Ace and Krypto for my desk... but I can't remember what I wound up doing with them since they never made it there. They just the cheap little Dollar Tree versions, though.

Anyway, it was still better than The Flash movie... which, I mean, isn't saying much, but...

I'm going to Las Vegas for my honeymoons. It's happening in April.

The reservation is booked and the plane tickets are as well. It's happening.

If any of you Geeks have been there can you give me some recommendations for local restaurants and activities.

Microsoft is set to have a press conference some time next week to announce a bevy of their exclusive games will no longer be exclusive to Xbone.

I'm vomcerned only because competition is good for the marketn and with less competition the market has a chance to become stagnant.

It's still funny because I have said that Microsoft would get out of the console business 5 years ago before the Xbox Series X was announced. I'm just half a decade late.

Exclusives are the laziest form of "competition" and don't necessarily result in the kinds of improvements that move the industry forward. In fact, Microsoft's purchases of various companies -- which gave them their exclusives -- has made the marketplace LESS competitive and more stagnant.

Not to mention a lot of "competition" isn't really competition. For example, Apple recently released its own VR headset, but the features are basically what's already offered by other companies where the only difference is it costs a metric fuckton more because, well, Apple.

It's happened this Thursday at 3pm eastern standard time.

Microsoft is going third party.

Or at least I suspect. Halo and Gears on Playstation will expand those tranches by a considerable margin.

Saw something related to Hati or whatever, which led me to briefly wiki-walk, confirming she's a character from the LA Ahsoka show. And, upon learning Sabine Wren is in it, I was kinda tempted to check it out... but then realized all of the "homework" involved since I'd first need to watch Mando and Rebels.

It's weird how decades ago, that would've seemed like a perk. Now, it's a hassle.

I've got to say, I'm very happy where scifi is for movies right now. Dune Part 2 came out, and that was a massive hit. Then there's also 3 Body Problem that netflix came up.

They're not hardest of hard scifi, but there's enough out there, that hopefully is big enough, that I'm crazy excited that scifi may become big again.

Yeah, but then I'd constantly feel, "This isn't the full experience."

It's like when I watched Kong vs Godzilla, and assumed there was valid, underlying context to the stuff I didn't understand... when in reality it was a terribly-written mess of a movie that sequeled another terribly-written mess of a movie.

Or if I hadn't seen Avengers before Thor 3 when I wouldn't have realized how stupid Loki's reaction in one scene which served as a callback.

It's possible, especially if I watched the earlier stuff and then thought it wasn't as good as that.

Other than Dune and the mainstream scifi franchises (like SW), I'm not sure I've noticed much scifi hitting theaters, etc.
