I tried the beta test and it seemed pretty good, kind of in-between 2 and 3 in a lot of ways.
Yes. I did the beta, I have early access.

There's just so much content and stuff to do. Feels more open-world like, in that I forgot the main quest for a bit, as I was tripping over grottos and dungeons on the map to explore (some of those dungeons are pretty long and deep), never mind side quests from NPCs, or stuff they did in Diablo 3 where you'd just stumble upon a blood ritual being performed, and if you can stop it in X seconds, you are rewarded. Feels very dense.

The skill tree feels much more interesting as well. And being able to instantly do some of the cooler stuff in D3 (like taking an aspect off of a legendary item) is very gratifying.

I wouldn't know. ABK isn't getting any more of my money.

It feels more fleshed out than Diablo 3 so far (from 5 or 6 hours in). And the story's kinda interesting

Yeah I'm probably not going to buy it regardless. I just don't care for Blizzard anymore. It might be the best game they've ever made, I wouldn't know, I just can't stand them as a company anymore.

Pretty much. Between being a bunch of festering turds at a personal level and their demonstrated willingness to break a 15-year-old game I already own to sell a remake of it I don't want, they've got a long way to go to earn back enough of my trust to deserve my money.

Its not like theyre the ones seeing the money from sales. Game development gets funded from investors or publishers.

They are the ones seeing money from the sales in the sense that being employed gets them paid, and they are more likely to be employed if the thing they worked on has success.

yeah maintenance (can't play game)
long ass (Queue times) some people have waited 4+ hours (can't play game) beta so might get better
disconnected in the middle of game losing EVERYTHING you picked up to a point
season thing going on that you need to pay to access goodies ( like free to play games do)

If this had an offline mode it would be a must buy ( at least this way you will always have access to the game no matter )

Having a goal is good, but don't let your goal depress you. Goals are meant to inspire.

This. Though I'm shocked the game they half-assed after being laughed at for the mobile game is any good.

I really hate that they're so desperate to distance themselves from the last game that they got lazy and didn't introduce any new classes. Having something new to play and seeing some unfamiliar part of the world was always great, and this game is just "greatest hits fans like".

Oh well, it's an Actiblizzard Live Service Product, it's fundamentally not worth playing.

I'm not going to give money to a bunch of rapists and union busters just because they're holding their development team hostage.

There's a very, very high likelihood that a majority of them will be laid off next quarter anyway. If anything, that chance actually increases if the game is successful, since that yields greater growth this quarter and sets the bar higher for next quarter. That's how many corporations work: Their shareholders want indefinite growth, so whenever they have a good quarter because of a bunch of extra revenue, rather than simply accepting that the next quarter is going to be lower because that revenue spike is gone, they cut their expenses by laying off a bunch of staff and sustain that growth for a little longer. ABK has already done this multiple times. A couple years ago, they were making headlines for reporting record high profits, then a month later they turned around and laid off a couple thousand people.

Getting employed gets them paid, but game development is a long process that takes years. Hence why they're getting paid through money raised from investors and publishers, and why often times developers are not permanent employees. They're hired to work on a single project, then they need to find a new job when that project wraps up development. Longterm employment at a single company like Nintendo is the exception and not the norm in the games industry.

man, druid needs buffed in a multitude of ways, it's probably the weakest class right now because nothing in it can output enough damage for anything

Better than D3 is a low fucking bar, btw.

Anyway, my computer can't run it so I decided not to bother. Wasted too much of my life on those games because of their addictive loops but I didn't really enjoy playing them all that much (the first one is actually my favorite). With this one's monetization practices, I'm pretty sure I'm not missing out on anything that I could just watch on Youtube.

D3 was alright. Granted, I only played it post-RoS and can't speak to any of the RMAH shenanigans, but I had some good times with it for a while. It's not particularly deep for an ARPG, though. So much of the gear for any particular build is build-enabling that there's very little room for gear progression outside of incremental upgrades to those legendaries. While it was fun to try out different builds, it didn't take all that long to cover all of the ones I was interested in and for the game to be reduced to pushing GR levels until I hit the cap of what my damage could achieve in the grand game of Rocket Tag that is D3's endgame. Both Path of Exile and Grim Dawn were more enjoyable for me.

Haven't played it (and I'm not going to, because ActiBlizz is a trash company and everything I've heard is this is more always-online moneygrubbing "live services" bullshit stuffed with microtransactions, which immediately kills any interest I may have had), but I will say it's a bad sign when all of the advertisements for the game I'm seeing on Youtube contain precisely zero seconds of gameplay - or even in-game - footage.

Seriously, I have no idea which genius in the marketing department thought the best way to attract customers was to get a bunch of people in larping gear to talk to the camera and ask if I was going to save them from the darkness.

D4 feels better than D3 easily so far. Not that D3 was bad, per se, but the amount of stuff to do and see if vast.

Its actually really fun, can't express it in words exactly, but parts of it feel like a blend of both D2 and D3 in a good way.

Also like someone earlier mentioned it feels really dense, lots of stuff to do during the main quest.

I've only played a few hours so far but at the moment I would still consider D3 the better game.

My brother and I gameshare on PS4/PS5 but he's broke as fuck so usually I buy games for him to play, even games I'm not interested in myself. Such is the case with D4.

I have very little interest in Diablo, and a massive backlog of games I'd rather play. Bought it for my bro. I guess early access is cut off for gamesharing though, as it's a perk for buying the deluxe edition or whatever. So my brother panics and buys the game - that he can't afford - on his credit card dude still owes me 100$ from when I helped him with vet bills for his dog. If he waited he could've been playing Diablo 4 tomorrow through gameshare. Not gonna bother to return it though I prob would've bought it eventually
If you rise up to heaven I'll turn the sun to blind you
If you sleep deep in hell I have chains to bind you
he didn't even have to do that, there was a very easy way to bypass the early access restriction and all you needed was a 2nd controller

moreover, on the day you posted that, it actually unlocked about 7 or 8 hours after your post
