I make fun of the stereotypes, but I've never personally known a vegan that was actually obnoxious about it.
The reason I want my significant other to be an omnivore is because I want to be able to make her delicious meals :)
and thats a lot harder when you cant use meat or animal products, even plain ole vegetarians are easier to serve because at least then I can use dairy products and eggs.

I do also question the sustainability and environmental impact. Rain forest are being destroyed to grow palm oil and soy. Probably less CO2 emission than having the land as cattle pasture, but it's not much better.
Going against nature is bad.
By definition, literally everything humans do goes against nature.Im not going to freeze my butt off in my cave if I can help it.

But only because I hate picky eaters of any kind unless it's for a frigging allergy
You aren't allergic? Eat whatevers there and stop being so picky.
So crippling pain from intolerances is alright?that sounds like it falls under exactly what I meant when I said allergies are ok as an excuse

Don't be a dickhead
I'll eat the meat they don't.
Nice, just don't go overboard and get lactose intolerant
Same here. Especially since many of the recipes I make have cheese... Luckily, my SO loves cheese, as well...
I think a lot of my customers at work have you beat. Good gods, the consumption of meat there, especially the deep fried chicken coated in sugar-heavy sauces... plus the beef dishes.I'm well aware how much meat people consume. It's a bit too much. Eat more veggies.

If someone has a visceral negative reaction to "I don't eat meat" or "I don't eat animal products," it's likely because they realize, at a subconscious level, that they know that not eating such things displays a superior willpower or morality. In short, they feel offended, as if the other person insulted them. Even if the vegan only commented on their own eating habits.
Compare this to when people say "I don't eat seafood" or "I don't eat broccoli." People don't get insulted by these statements. Because people don't attach morality or willpower to these statements.
