Who's last name was used?

I know a guy at work that took his wife's last name, so I thought to ask here. I forgot, and saw something on another post that reminded me. Also, were there any specific reasons for the way you chose who's last name or anything?

Did she have a middle name before? And just kinda got rid of it. Or did she not have one before. I know a good amount of people who don't have middle names.

We kept our own last names. I had just changed my whole name, first middle and last, a year before we got married. I didn't want to change it again.

There was some idle talk over the years of my husband taking my last name, but it never happened. I currently lean toward eventually changing my middle name again and taking his last name for a change. No telling if I'll ever do it though, because changing your name as an established adult is a lot more annoying than doing it at 18 when you have no major accounts anywhere.

I'm female and my mom didn't give us girls middle names so we could use our maiden names as middle names. I never had that some legally though, I just didn't care enough.
We kept our own names for now, but after my wife applies for citizenship, she gets a free name change. She says she wants to change to my last name, but also shorten her first name. She's Russian and she's annoyed how people pronounce her name.
She took my name by her choice.

Was that weird to you Link? don't worry its not set in stone to take the last name of the guy. Its 2018, we all have more options in life. :P

Never said it was weird. Just wanted to ask a question and take poll. And then talk about the answers. Do you think it's weird that I asked this question?

My wife excitedly took my last name. Hers actually had no meaning to her because they gave her her stepdad's, whom she doesn't really care for. The only benefit she had before was a surname that was easy to spell. Now both her first and last name everybody either spells incorrectly or gives you strange glances about (to prompt you to spell it).

lol whenever anybody asks me my last name to enter it or write it down, I just spell it.

I assume that was me. I took my wife's name back in 2014 when we got married.

I've talked about it on this board several times then and since. I liked Fitzgerald more than Kidder and her name meant more to her than mine did. Mine was just annoying to deal with in high school. Plus taking your wife's last name pisses off the kind of person who deserved to be pissed off. It doesn't happen often (mostly guys don't care and women are impressed), but it's been funny every time it does.
Having different last names also pisses of the type of people who deserve to be pissed off. Bonus.

My wife is a big shot director or rehab for a big company it was easier for her to keep her own last name.
Plus, she'll eventually dump my ass.
