And that competition will drive prices up higher than they already are.

You do realize that the only people who are staying home from positive tests are the ones who are sick. Which is the absolute fucking last category of person you want coming to work as a business owner. Most business owners would consider it a massive boon if they could have the government tell them who would bring the flu into work at no cost to them, and this is many times worse because your entire business effectively has to shut down if you only find out after it's had a chance to spread, and people are way more likely to die from it or sustain long-term respiratory damage. And it's not just your workers you're concerned about, it's the general public as well, but I suppose externalities like infecting your neighbors and their families don't matter to your type because they don't show up on a financial report anywhere.
