Smallville posted... how do they get the avg walking speed of the t rex? So the t rex was bigger and faster?
I apologize, I think I misrepresented the science. The article I quoted those figures from was this:

https://royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/10.1098/rsos.201441 - it seems that the "new estimates" mentioned actually put the preferred walking speed of the T-Rex at 1.28 m/s, which converts to about 2.9 mph. That puts it lower than an elephant's, which begs to question how well the average walking speed correlates to agility whilst fighting. Perhaps that's not the best metric to judge by.
In truth, I guess the short answer is, "who knows?"
