They both have their advantages:

Walmart has more products and the lowest prices you can find, and MUCH better grocery and clothes sections.

Target has a better environment (customer base), slightly better customer service, and prices that are very low (though maybe very slightly higher than Walmart) although both stores price match.

I work at Target, and we have no self checkout at my store (although all others in the area do), so if having a human ring you up is important (like it is for one of my wfh co-workers at another job) then you should definitely go to Target. For absolute rock bottom prices and not caring about anything else, Walmart is the store.

For me personally, and this goes for before I worked at Target, I am closer to Walmart but only go there early in the morning if Im cooking something and see Im missing one item I need. Otherwise, Ill drive the extra half mile to Target, as the environment there is objectively better.
