This. The Soda Tax got some movement because legislators thought that people would react to a soda tax the same way they did with cigarette taxes. But while soda is harmful when consume frequently in regular serving sizes, its much more convenient to point to other sources as a cause of diabetes or obesity. Lung cancer can be a pretty cut and dry thing when it happens with smokers.
