They're black according to the one-drop rule, much like how Obama was widely viewed as only black instead of mixed. Either you're terrible at expressing yourself efficiently since that would mean that you mean black to mean only a specific subset of black people, which you failed to disclose, or you're just not being sincere with one of your statements.
I still think we never had a black president. So, you can "shoo" now. You need two black parents to be black. Or one black and mulatto and You'll be mostly black, sir. One-drop rule is stupid and it was always stupid. It made up by racist white men who wanted only two white couples and no outsiders.
This is something I had to come to terms with too. Being mixed race I always thought that I had to identify with the race I looked more as.
Then after a while I realized I'm neither fully white nor middle eastern. I'm mixed race, my own thing.
Both of these statements are nonsense. Most Black Americans could be considered "mixed", as many of us have ancestry including Native American or European DNA in addition to our Sub-Saharan DNA. So people that appear "black" would actually be "mixed" by your qualifications. If Barack Obama isn't black, what are his kids? The discussion of whether being mixed actually matters to people's perception of you is laughable.
