My first contest was 2003, it made a big impact on me and I was at my most interested post-2003 and before 2004 began. I stayed enjoying them from 04-06 although it had lost a bit of that spark. 07 and the whole L-Block 4-way business was the breaking point for me, when it couldn't be taken seriously as a measure of character strength and all the RNG in 4-way bracket placement deciding things my interest waned a lot.
I keep an eye on stuff since but I could honestly not recall a single match post 2007 off the top of my head, I remember almost every part of the bracket from 2003-2006.

Is there a point where contests lost their magic for you?

Where have you been more like. You can't just vanish for months then turning up making Inviso jokes and Rein of Terror posts, you have to earn the right to that through persistent posting in the weeks and months beforehand. =P
