I love how the entire season is a giant middle finger to Picard seasons 1 & 2. There's a scene in episode 3 were I feel "movie Picard" briefly showed up and the writers punished him for being out of character.
The part where his aggressive and not like Picard tactics got the Titan screwed and falling into that gravity well. When Riker tells him off and to get the hell off the bridge felt oddly satisfying to me. As somehow the showrunner was exposing the imposter from the TNG movies and he was gonna show us the "real" Picard now.
