Watching some older TIHYDPs and I have to say, I actually prefer the former. Sure, he was annoying as fuck but he genuinely seemed to be having fun with games, or at least trying to. I can't even watch newer TIHYDPs because he's just gotten so fucking boring, even to make fun of.
