Kennedy's reluctance to do more in Cuba is possibly a reason he was killed. The mob used to have casinos down in Cuba, but they were kicked out and the casinos were nationalized and/or shut down when Castro came to power. The mafia helped get Kennedy elected (by connections through Joseph Kennedy, a former bootlegger and partner of the mob) and they were probably expecting JFK to take care of the Castro problem so they could get their casinos back. At least that's one of the many, many conspiracies, but that one is more believable than many because there's even more to it than just that.
