Well if the phone isn't compatible with his carrier than the topic is still over. I just don't know if the sims in older models were internal or not.
I would assume you have one of two options, put your sim in the phone and see if it works or take it to the store. unless you're particularly savy with this type of thing which I'm going to assume tc isn't since he's making this
