Happy Boxing day. Now for a serious question.

Someone please explain what you buy from boxing day (as in, who are you buying things for)?

Do you buy things for yourself? Or do you buy things and store it for next Christmas?

I'm only asking because from a logical standpoint, it makes no sense to have a huge shopping day AFTER Christmas. It being rooted in tradition is fine and all, that I won't question (well, not really, I also question how it morphed from rewarding your "servants" to rewarding yourself). I just question the modern day application of it.

To explain my puzzlement further. Black Friday I understand. I would never participate in it, but I completely understand. You save money to buy gifts FOR Christmas. See? It's a no-brainer. So the concept of modern Boxing day confuses me. A month with a focus at the end of giving everyone gifts culminates with a holiday where you get to save money and buy more things after you've already given everyone gifts?
