The writing is atrocious. The game is trying to be "funny", but the writing is so bad that it just comes off as annoying and cringey.
The game itself was surprisingly pretty fun, the best Ubisoft sandbox in a while. I've heard nothing but bad things about the DLC though, so I'd skip them.

I bought the game a few weeks ago and I have to agree with this. I've only played about four or five hours so far, but I swear that nearly every conversation in the game has to have some kind of joke or quip in it, and it's getting old, fast. I've been meaning to try to get further in, but the real kicker for me is that there are just a ton of puzzles that feel like a chore, and they throw so many at you - hell, I've had to do a puzzle to unlock another puzzle more than once, and a lot of said "puzzles" involve picking something up and putting it on a switch. It feels like busywork more than something that challenges my brain.

On the flip side, it's definitely a solidly built game and it controls well, but it hasn't come close to scratching the same itch BotW did for me. I only paid $10 for it, though (Amazon had a promo around Prime Day where I got $20 off by using my Discover card), so I don't feel too burned about it. Honestly, if you'd been looking for the Xbox version, I probably would've sold it to you at cost; I feel like I'm going to drop it at this point, seeing as how it's been three weeks and I've only played a few hours.
