Friday Night Funkin': Vs. Gorefield - CATaclysm

Okay so Im going to completely ignore the lore around the song because itsumreally silly. I cant tell if its meant to be taken seriously. I can never tell how seriously FNF fans treat these things. So instead Im going to focus on the song exclusively.

First off I think its hilarious that you found a Friday Night Funkin song with ticking clocks. Thats so funny Like many other big FNF songs, CATaclysm has different phases, with different vibes in each. The first phase is more like a standard FNF song battle. The second phase has a faster-paced, almost dnb style. The third is another fast-paced song battle. The fourth is a Megalovania knockoff for some reason; here the opponent sounds growlier, I guess to emulate Sans. Phase 5, the final phase, reopens with those ticking clocks and seems to be sort of a reprise of phase 1, at least in tone, menacing and climactic and all that.

Ive said before that I often like the vocals in FNF songs more than the beats, but the beats are the big selling points in CATaclysm. Theres a good amount of range displayed throughout, and theyre normally on point.

As a listening experience you could certainly do worse than this. Theres a FNF song ranked lower, after all! But its just not my thing. I appreciate what the composers were going for with the various phases but nothing grabbed me all that much apart from the occasional solid beat. This isnt really the kind of FNF music I tend to like.
Ah well, that's a shame that another one dropped so quickly, especially since I did find one that hit your criteria so well. Welp, time to try to rationalize both my opinion and whatever is happening in the mod right now.

First off, it's not entirely fair to blame the modders for how this turned out. Rather, we should point our fingers at LumpyTouch and his actually insane lore of his Gorefield series. The modders just ended up doing a really good job encapsulating that insanity and made quite a few bangers along the way.

As for the song itself, it features the character Godfield, who is, without going into much detail, is essentially the god of the Gorefield universe. As such, while serving as Nermal's opponent in this form, he flashes to other moments of Gorefield's presence where he is always there, from "classic" Gorefield, to his Lasagna Boy appearance, and even Sansfield, who is exactly what you think he is, and yessir, he is connected. This song basically serves as the true ending of the mod, and the significance is emboldened if you had actually experienced the mod beforehand.

And yeah, I really do like this song. It has an epic finality to it that just excites me similar to how All-Stars from Mario's Madness does, but with the unique twist of basically running a victory lap through some of the highlight songs from the mod. It sucks it landed so low, but oh well, that's how it goes.
