Mario and Bowser have a poor excused and later game developed rivalry. They're more like sworn enemies.
Link and Ganondorf are nothing more than sworn enemies.
Cloud and Sephiroth started with a Master-Disciple complex which progressed into mortal enemies and that's it.
Red and Blue are the only true Rivals in the whole competition list, which if we go by the pure unbiased definition of rivalry, Wright and Edgeworth come in second, and either Squall and Seifer or Mario and Bowser coming in third.
This is not an opinion. This is fact. Anyone voting for any competitor than the trainers are doing so because they like their games better.
