Had the girl been 16 or 17, and he feels really bad about it and would change his ways I would give him a second chance. He might still get some jail time and/or other heavy punishment, but it shouldn't ruin his life. Why? Because 16-17 is fully developed (sexually) and it's even legal in some states. As a male, you'd be lying if you said you wouldn't enjoy wild sex with a prime ready beautiful girl. You just instead use your better judgement and not be a creepy predator and find someone your age.
Girls younger than that though, especially in the 9-12 range is beyond sick. I'm not even sure that it's possible to correct such a severe mental disorder. Lock em up, good on the pastor.
