I didn't have any friends that I actually hung out with in person until I was 24. Now, I have 4-5 friends I hang out with every month or so although we text or have phone calls more than that. My friends don't really know each other so I definitely don't have a "friend circle." The main reason for my lack of friends in the past was intense shame about my identity and self, which I've done a lot of work on. I would guess I'll probably have a "real" friend circle in a couple of years.
