As you know, Mercury (pseudo-luxury spin off of Ford) folded, Pontiac folded (pseudo-sports spanision of GM), Hummer folded, Saturn folded, Saab folded, and many, many other spanisions.

Lincoln, Ford's own luxury spanision isn't doing so hot. I'd not be surprised if they close too, especially since Ford won't be doing cars anymore, why keep a spanision just to sell 1 or 2 (literally) rebadged for SUV's?

But Cadillac... is it different? The president rides "the beast', which is basically a pickup truck that's armored and made to look like a Cadillac luxury sedan. Caddy is even sticking its badge on the side of the C pillar like brands like Rolls and Maybach do.

Major industrialized countries tend to have an official luxury vehicle that the president/king/prime minister drives, it's sort of a matter of national pride. Would cadillac be allowed to fold, so the president has to use a chevy, or worse, a mercedes?
